The ancient system of Vedic Mathematics was rediscovered from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji. According to his research all of mathematics is based on sixteen Sutras, or word-formulae. These formulae describe the way the mind naturally works and are a great help in directing the student to the appropriate method of solution.

TOPIC-VEDIC MATHEMATICS What is Vedic Mathematics? Vedic Mathematics is the name given to the ancient system of Indian Mathematics which was rediscovered from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884-1960). According to his research all of mathematics is based on sixteen Sutras, or word-formulae. For example, 'Vertically and Crosswise` is one of these Sutras. These formulae describe the way the mind naturally works and are therefore a great help in directing the student to the appropriate method of solution. In the Vedic system 'difficult' problems or huge sums can often be solved immediately by the Vedic method. These striking and beautiful methods are just a part of a complete system of mathematics which is far more systematic than the modern 'system'. Vedic Mathematics manifests the coherent and unified structure of mathematics and the methods are complementary, direct and easy. Perhaps the most striking feature of the Vedic system is its coherence. Instead of a hotch-potch of unrelated techniques the whole system is beautifully interrelated and unified: the general multiplication method, for example, is easily reversed to allow one-line divisions and the simple squaring method can be reversed to give one-line square roots.
History Of Vedic Mathematics The ancient system of Vedic Mathematics was rediscovered from the Indian Sanskrit texts known as the Vedas, between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884-1960). At the beginning of the twentieth century, when there was a great interest in the Sanskrit texts in Europe, Bharati Krsna tells us some scholars ridiculed certain texts which were headed 'Ganita Sutras'- which means mathematics. They could find no mathematics in the translation and dismissed the texts as rubbish. Bharati Krsna, who was himself a scholar of Sanskrit, Mathematics, History and Philosophy, studied these texts and after lengthy and careful investigation was able to reconstruct the mathematics of the Vedas. According to his research all of mathematics is based on sixteen Sutras, or word-formulae.
Calculating Prodigies
People who can perform astonishingly long or complex calculations in their head are often called calculating prodigies or lightning calculators. It is peculiar to arithmetic that once the basic facts are understood any intelligent person can construct the whole science: number science develops in a totally natural way. The Introduction to the book "The Natural Calculator" describes the many advantages of mental mathematics and the Vedic system and supports the view that everyone is potentially a lightning calculator. Importance Of Vedic Mathematics The 16 Sutras and 13 Corollaries form a useful platform to speed up your mental calculations dramatically, and you will enjoy finding ways to link them back to traditional western Mental Math. Vedic maths will prove immensely useful to the students, teachers, professionals and to all those who need to use mathematics in day-to-day performance of their duties. Vedic Maths brings more self-confidence. Vedic maths contain all 16 sutras of vedic mathematics along with illustrations, powerful nine, series, square rules and preliminary chatting in very interesting manner. Hence it is most welcome.
Taking out square root with in 3 seconds Squaring can also be performed using the Urdhva-Tiryak (vertically and cross-wise) method. It can be set up as a regular multiplication with the same number on two lines, or the vertical and cross-products can be performed mentally with the number to be squared on just one line. Also, some simplifications are possible because of the performance of squaring rather than general multiplication. For instance, since the cross-products involve the same numbers, the sum of the cross products is just double of the single cross-product. This property is referred to as Duplex, or in the Vedas as Dvandva Yoga. 321 -------- 1 (vertical multiplication, 1 x 1) 4 (Duplex of 21, 2 x 2 x 1) 10 (Duplex of 321, 2 x 3 x 1 + 2 x 2. Note that the product of the middle numbers is not doubled) 12 (Duplex of 32, 2 x 3 x 2) 9 (vertical multiplication, 3 x 3) -------- 103041 Solving Quadratic Equation with in seconds Let the quadratic equation be- x + 1/x = 10/3 Firstly we will solve it by general method- x + 1/x = 10/3 becomes (x^2 + 1)/x = 10/3 becomes 3x^2 + 3 = 10x becomes 3x^2 - 10x + 3 = 0 We would then solve it using the quadratic formula by setting a = 3, b = 10 and c = 3. This would lead to the solutions x = 3 and x = 1/3.
Now by vedic mathematics- All we have to do is observe that 10/3 = 3 + 1/3. Thus, we would immediately have figured out that we can rewrite the given equation as below: x + 1/x = 3 + 1/3 The symmetry of the equation above immediately reveals the answers, x = 3 and x = 1/3. The same method can be used to solve many different problems such as the examples below: x + 1/x = 26/5 => x + 1/x = 5 + 1/5 => x = 5, 1/5 x + 1/x = 50/7 => x + 1/x = 7 + 1/7 => x = 7, 1/7 x + 1/x = -17/4 => x + 1/x = -4 - 1/4 => x = -4, -1/4
We are not restricted to x + 1/x on the left-hand side either.
