recommendations in 5.2.4 or as determined
by the fire risk evaluation should be protected
with automatic water spray or foam-water
spray systems. 7.8.7* Spatial separation of
transformers and other equipment containing
over 500 gal (1890 L) of oil should be in

8.9 Switch Gear- 8.9.2 For an enclosed
switch gear room automatic Clean Agents
or CO2 total flooding Extinguishing
system is considered preferable to water
spray. 8.10.6 CO2 or Clean Agents
extinguishing system shall be provided for
control room. 8.10.3 The room shall be
kept clear and free of any waste material
whenever glass panels are provided, it
shall be of clear fire resisting glass having
minimum 45 minutes fire resistance or
fitted with automatic resistant
shutters/automatic water curtain.
7.8.1.1 Control, computer, or
telecommunication rooms should meet the
applicable requirements of NFPA 75,
Standard for the Protection of Information
Technology Equipment. 7.8.1.2 A smoke
detection system should be installed
throughout these rooms 7.8.1.3 Total flooding
gaseous fire extinguishing systems should
be considered for areas beneath raised floors
that contain cables or for areas or enclosures
containing equipment that is of high value or
is critical to power generation. Individual
equipment and cabinet protection could be
considered in lieu of total flooding systems.
