Kinds of Sets
1. Finite set is a set which are countable.
Ex: X = {a, e, i , o, u}

2. Infinite set is a set of which elements are
not countable.
Ex: Y = {1, 2, 3, 4, ...}

3. Empty or Null set is a set with no
elements.
Ex: U = { }

Kinds of Sets
4. Equivalent sets are sets with the same
number of elements.
Ex: Z = {A, B, C, D, E}
R = {1, 2, 3 , 4, 5}
Set Z and Set R are equivalent sets.

5. Equal sets are sets with the same number
and exactly the same kind of elements.
Ex: O = {r, e, a, d}
P = {d, e, a , r}
Set O and Set P are equal sets.

Kinds of Sets
5. Joint sets are sets with common
elements.
Ex: K = {a, e, i, o, u}
W = {a, b, c, d, e}

Kinds of Sets
5. Joint sets are sets with common
elements.
Ex: K = {a, e, i, o, u}
W = {a, b, c, d, e}
Set K and Set W are joint sets.

6. Disjoint sets are sets without common
elements.
Ex: P = {e, a, r}
Q = {c, o, w}
Set K and Set W are disjoint sets.

A = {v, a, s, e} E = {a, e, i, o, u}
B = {s, a, v, e} F = { }
C = {l, a, n, e} G = {2, 4, 6 , 8, ...}
D = {l, a, c, e} H = {1, 3, 5, 7, 9}
