INTRODUCTION
A crime is committed. Now the
criminal has to be found out and then
punished as per the penal laws of the
land. This is the general view towards
crimes and criminals to the most of the
people of our country.
WHAT IS CRIME
Crime is the breaking of rules or laws
for which some governing authority
can ultimately prescribe a conviction.
Different criminologists have defined
crime differently.
There is no
single cause to
any disorder,
including crime.
Some general
causes of crime
are:

Prevention of crime:
o More prisons and stiffer criminal laws with greater penalties for offenders
can be solutions to crime.
oResearch to find the gene responsible for crime which will allow medical
science to turn off the gene in question once located.
oPsychiatric therapy and treatments can help to prevent the criminals to
commit further crime.
oNormal social life, good parenting skills, secure and happy childhood and
healthy neighborhood can refrain people from committing crime.
Reformation of criminals:
If reformation of criminals can be conducted in a more
effective way then it is possible that those criminals would not
commit crime again and lead a normal life.
CASE STUDY:
A school teacher Mizanur Rahman, 42, was hacked
to death on the premises of the school in Shyamnagar
upazilla.
Local youth Hasanuzzaaman called him out of the
classroom and as soon as he reached there started to
stab him and after taking him to the hospital, he was
declared dead.

Causes of the crime:
Locals said Hasanuzzaman used to take drug on the school
premises. Mizanur had asked him to refrain from taking drugs
at the school which angered Hasanuzzaman.
Hasanuzzaman, however, said the teacher used to visit his
house to meet his mother which he disliked and protested
several times.
Moral degradation.
Unstable mental state for the addiction to drug.
Less fear about the existing criminal justice system.
Prevention of crime:
Youths of todays society should be refrained from the
addiction to drugs.
Every child should be taught about moral values.
Existing penal laws should be executed appropriately.
CONCLUSION:
From the above discussion, we can see that not
only the incident that a crime is committed and so
just have to punish the criminals is a backdated
idea. Now we have to look to the intention of the
criminal and the causes behind his committing the
crime. Without knowing the causes of crime, we
cannot find a solution to prevent crimes from our
society.
