Effective listening
Effective listening is an active process that has
three basic steps:

1. Listen For The Main
Idea
During listening, listen generally in
order to find out:
1. the main subject or topic
(news item, speech, talk, ect)
2. how the topic is dealt with

2. Note-Taking
take down notes as you listen:
- contain information you may
need
pay particular attention to
specific information .
- Exp: names, statistics
(numbers),
and dates.


When take down notes:
-Use short forms
(words, dashed or
mathematical symbols)
to transfer information
effectively.

3. Summarizing and Paraphrasing
Summarizing involves listening for general
information.
Illustration and example not include.
In order to summarize, you have to paraphrase
(shortening sentences or rearranging words).
