"Distributed DCE"
Conclusion:

By comparison with PSTN access, the set of functions
comprising:
"TAF + GSM/UMTS transmission subsystem + IWF
can be considered as a DCE distributed throughout the
PLMN.
This DCE has a standard set of interchange circuits and
transmission characteristics conforming to ITU
recommendations.
The various applications already developed within the
PSTN/ISDN can therefore easily be ported to a GSM
network.

Alcatel solution: SMIM
SMIM rack and IWF boards:

MIWA: dedicated to transparent mode facsimile group 3 teleservice
MIWB AA: this board supports the transparent mode facsimile group 3
teleservice, asynchronous data services (all rates up to 9.6 kbit/s) and
digital synchronous data services (V.110)
MIWB AB: this board supports the functionalities of the MIWB AA
board, plus data compression "Autobauding" modem up to 28.8 kbit/s,
TCH/F14.4 channels and transparent mode facsimile group 3 at
14.4 kbit/s
MIWC: this board supports the non transparent synchronous data
services (X.31)
MIWD: as MIWAB, plus BS20 in non transparent mode for UMTS

Management commands
The INTMIM command also lets you interrogate (display) the characteristics
of a particular SMIM :
The SPC of the SMIM in the local signalling network of the RCP
The MIWx boards in the SMIM. The MIWx boards are referenced here
by their number in the rack, 1 to 5 from the middle of the subrack going
outwards.
The name of any associated SMIM
The state of the SMIM (in service, out of service or initialising)

It is possible to place an SMIM in or out of service respectively using the
SETMIM: IN and SETMIM: OUT commands.

The INTIMA command for interrogating the SMIM alarms indicates the
defective board (the number of the MIWx or the DTR) and in some cases the
cause of the fault.

Presentation
A
B
MSRN is a temporary number in E.164 format provided by the Visited MSC to the Gateway MSC : it will be translated
by the gateway SSP (and maybe by intermediate transit exchanges) in a routing solution to the target MSC.

6.2 MSRN common pool management
How to do it ?
INTMRN command lets you interrogate the MSRNs
common pool declared in the database of an RCP : It
provides the first MSRN of the database (in national
[recognition]and international [allocation] formats )
and the number of MSRNs in the pool.
IWFTYP : Inter Working Function type

CREMRN allows the operator to create a MSRN pool
IWFTYP : Inter Working Function type
ROAMTYP : Roaming type
DIGREC : First MSRN number for recognition
DIGALL : First MSRN number for allocation
LGPOOL : Length of the pool

DELMRN allows the operator to delete a MSRN pool
IWFTYP : Inter Working Function type
ROAMTYP : Roaming type
