Usage of Internet by UTMSpace Students

a. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Nowadays almost everyone has access to the Internet and it becomes
one of the common things around the world. Mostly people use the
Internet for many difference reasons and most of us use it almost every
day. Besides surfing Internet using the computers, many prefer to use
their smart phone to surf the Internet. A lot of young people use the
Internet to research information for their projects and homework as well
as using email to their friends.

b. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Internet use is spreading rapidly into daily life and directly affecting
peoples idea and behaviour. Internet has an impact in many areas
including the higher education system. Internet jus has become a way
of life for the majority of higher education students all around the world.
For most college students, the internet is a functional tool one that has
greatly changed the way they interact.

Some student use the internet in the wrong way. Such as
downloading pornography video, online games while in class and
more.




c. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

To identify the Internet usage among students of UTMSpace.

d. RESEARCH QUESTIONS

1. Is the internet a students priority every day?
2. Do students use Internet to shop online?
3. Are students confident with online security?
4. Do students use the Internet for academic purposes?
5. Does the internet distract student attention in class?




e. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study will show us the usage of UTMspace students, whether it is
use in the right purpose or not. Thus, the result will contribute to
UTMspace Authority to acknowledge if the students use the internet in
class session for academic purpose. If opposite, UTMspace Authority
can barred the internet line during class session.

a. HISTORY OF INTERNET

1. In 1950s, Internet began with development of electronic
computers.
2. In 1982s, the Internet protocol suite was standardized, and
consequently, the concept of a world-wide network of
interconnected networks, called the Internet, was introduced.
3. In 2007s, now internet continued to grow, driven by ever greater
amounts of online information, commerce, entertainment and social
networking.



b. RESEARCH IN INTERNET

1. Internet allows greater flexibility in working hours and location.
2. Especially with the spread of unmetered high-speed connections.
3. The Internet can be accessed almost anywhere by numerous
means.
4. Including through mobile Internet devices, Mobile phones, data
cards, handheld game consoles and cellular routers allow users to
connect to the Internet wirelessly.

students.

Based on the findings and of the study, the following are several
recommendations:

1. Everybody even the male student should shop online.
2. UTMspace must be conduct the students to software such as Bulid
Soft, Bina Link and online business that related to Quantity Surveyor
and Civil Engineering field.
