MANAGERIAL LEADERSHIP
A process of directing and influencing task-
related activity of group members. It
involves people and unequal distribution of
power among leaders and group of people.
NURSING MANAGEMENT
It is the process of working through staff
members to be able to provide
comprehensive care to the patient.
It includes planning, organizing, directing
and controlling.

ADMINISTRATION
Higher level of hierarchy;
Policy making body;
Determines aims and objectives of the
organization;
Fully utilizes the 7 Ms;

authority, responsibility and accountability in
the organization.
ORGANIZATION
It is an arrangement of people and
resources working in a planned manner
toward specific strategic goals.
It comprises the structure and process of a
group;
It is also a body of persons, methods, policies
and procedures arranged in a systematic
manner through delegation of functions
and responsibilities for the accomplishment
of a goal;
ORGANIZATION
It establishes formal authority through
identification of groupings, roles, and
relationships;
It is tasked to determine staff needed and
distributing to various areas needed.
It consists of an organizational chart linking
the parts of an organization.
MISSION
Outlines the purpose of the agency;
Identifies who the clients are;
An articulated mission allows everyone to
understand why an organization exists.
It is the soul of an organization.
VISION
Outlines the organizations future role and
functions.
It gives the agency something to strive for.
It must be clear, engaging, and attainable
just like the mission.
PHILOSOPHY
Describes the vision of the organization;
It is a statement of beliefs and values that
direct the organizations life or practice.
It explains beliefs and gives direction to how
the mission or purpose is achieved.
OBJECTIVES
It is the backbone of an organizations goals
and philosophy;
Specific and concrete in terms of results to
be achieved;
The stepping stones on the path towards the
achievement of the goal.
States the specific and measurable goals to
be accomplished.
NURSING MANAGEMENT
PROCESS
It supports the nursing process;
Data gathering, planning, organizing,
staffing, directing, and controlling supports
the ADPIE.
PURPOSE OF THE NURSING
MANAGEMENT PROCESS
To achieve scientifically-based, holistic,
individualized care fr the patient;
To achieve the opportunity to work
collaboratively with patients and others;
To achieve continuity of care.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE NURSING
MANAGEMENT PROCESS
SYSTEMATIC it has an ordered sequence of
activities;
DYNAMIC it has greater interaction and
continuous flow of activities;
INTERPERSONAL it ensures that nurses are
patient-centered;
GOAL-DIRECTED it is a means for nurses and
patients to work together for a specific goal and
objective;
UNIVERSALLY APPLICABLE it allows nurses to
practice nursing in any type of practice setting.
