Manuel Flores and victim 1 were involved in a
relationship for the past two years. Victim 1 had a
red pick up that Flores stated he could sell for her
through a friends auto dealership. Victim 1
allowed Flores to use the truck while he was
attempting to sell it. On August 4, 2014 Flores
contacted victim 1 and told her he was unable to
sell the vehicle and arranged to meet victim 1at
the gas station at Coors and Gun Club to return
the truck. Flores became upset during the phone
call because he thought he overheard a male
voice in the background and accused victim 1 of
cheating on him. Victim 1 took her daughter, victim
2, to the gas station to pick up the truck.
Manuel Flores and victim 1 were involved in a

Victim 1 arrived at the gas station and an
argument ensued with Flores. Victim 1 went inside
the gas station because she was afraid that Flores
would hurt her. Flores followed her into the gas
station and began hitting her in the head and
grabbing her by the waist to physically remove her
from the gas station. Flores picked up victim 1 and
put her in the truck, but she was able to escape.
Deputies receive a call in reference to a possible
kidnapping/abduction.
Victim 1 arrived at the gas station and an argument
ensued with Flores. Victim 1 went inside the gas
station because she was afraid that Flores would
hurt her. Flores followed her into the gas station
and began hitting her in the head and grabbing
her by the waist to physically remove her from the
gas station. Flores picked up victim 1 and put her
in the truck, but she was able to escape. Deputies
receive a call in reference to a possible
kidnapping/abduction.

Victim 1s daughter was able to drive and pick up
victim 1. They proceeded to drive north on Coors
with Flores giving chase in the red truck. Victim 1
was in the passenger seat and victim 2 was
driving. Victim 2 attempted to make a u-turn at
4201 Coors SW. Video surveillance shows the red
truck intentionally ramming the silver sedan. Both
vehicles are now heading south on Coors. The
sedan comes to a rest on the west side of Coors.
Victim 1 gets out of the vehicle and begins running
on foot north fearing that Flores would hurt her
daughter. Flores makes a u-turn and strikes the
sedan a second time. Victim 2 was still in the
vehicle. Flores then proceeds north on Coors and
attempts to run over Victim 1. Surveillance shows
victim 1 narrowly avoiding being killed by Flores.
Flores goes into the parking lot at 4201 Coors to
make a u-turn when Deputy Rodriquez is arriving
on scene.

Surveillance shows Flores intentionally ramming
Deputy Rodriquezs patrol vehicle. You can see
deputy Rodriquez attempting to get his drivers
door open but is unable to due to the damage.
Flores drives south on Coors and makes another
u-turn. Flores accelerates back north on Coors
again intentionally ramming Deputy Rodriquezs
patrol car resulting in the final crash. Deputy
Rodriquez is now physically trapped inside his
vehicle. Flores gets out of his truck and with hands
up as if he was celebrating, begins to move

rounds. One round struck Flores in the chest and
the other round struck a nearby building. After
firing the shots, Deputy Rodriquez was not able to
get out of his vehicle. Two good Samaritans came
to the aid of Deputy Rodriquez and had to
physically removed him from the passenger side
door. As soon as Deputy Rodriquez was freed, he
ran to Flores and placed him in handcuffs. He then
ran back to his car and retrieved his trauma kit
and returned to Flores and immediately began
rendering aid. Rescue Personnel arrived on scene
and took Flores to UNMH where he was
pronounced deceased.
