The name Castrol is derived from the words Castor and Oil
The Castrol brand, first marketed in 1909, was a blend of mineral
and vegetable (castor) oils, specifically designed for automobile
and aviation engines
Charles Wakefield was one of the first marketers in the modern
sense, using publicity and promotion to bring Castrol products
and their achievements to the attention of the world
Wakefield Oil was used to manufacture cricket bat oil in the
1920s and 1930s
Castrol continues its near-century old links with cricket through
sponsorships of Rahul Dravid, Adam Gilchrist and the Castrol
Awards for Cricketing Excellence

Castrol launched new generation grinding fluids product
designed for high speed - based on the latest generation of EHVI
hydrocracked oils and technology performance additives.

Castrol also commenced marketing of Aviation lubricants in India
during the fourth quarter of 2011 and its focus will be to nurture
and grow this business going forward.

Castrol has launched products such as Subsea solutions, to
further consolidate its market share in the offshore drilling
segment.

Rashmi Joshi appointed as an additional director of the company
with effect from august 01, 2013.

Also decided to appoint Rashmi joshi as a whole time director of
the company designated as director - finance with effect from the
august 01, 2013

Mr. Biajy Kamath, designated as whole time director- supply chain
has resigned as a director of the company with effect from the
close of business hours on July 31, 2013

Castrols Industrial Business entered into a strategic alliance with
ACE Micromatic Group the largest CNC machine tool
manufacturers in India (2011).
