Introduction
Mr R.K .Verma started Fast- Send couriers on 2004 after leaving On
Time couriers along with M. Singhal, Mr. David Dsouza & A.K.Dey.
They started working with a work force of 1500 from day 1 and well
connected network of channel partners country wide.
Though they were getting business but they were not able to break even
due to huge operating cost and high manpower.
Low accountability and casual attitude among the middle level
management.
Too much power in the hands of Agents.

Kind of information Mr Varma should have considered before
starting Fast- Send courier
What is the estimated business that the company is expecting and the
estimated manpower required to handle that business.
Should have evaluated the changes in the regulatory environment in
order to avoid any kind of uncertainty .
The competitive environment existing at that point of time in the
market.
Expenses that the company would have to spend if they are bringing up
the same old management of their previous company .
Expected rates per package and the estimated margin per package.
A fool proof reporting structure and a performance measurement
system.
Sources of Information
To acquire such kind of information as pointed out above, the company
had to-
Do a competitive force analysis by focusing on "Threat of New Entrant"
as there are too many small players starting shops daily and also the
national level players.
A third party consultant groups can act as a source of information.
Agents and channel partners can act as a important source of
information.
Agents of competitors like Blaze flash couriers who are dis satisfied
with their company.
Customers or other end users like corporate houses can also be sources
of this information.
Steps to develop information
In order to bring up the interest level of the Managers that had really
gone down at present; we should have maintained a proper
performance appraisal system in the organization that would rate the
employees not only on their performance but also on their regularity/
punctuality in their work place (i.e. coming to office regularly, reach
the work place on right time). This would have definitely put
restrictions on their freedom they got till now.
Frame a particular set of Key Performance Indexes (KPIs) for the
managers; so that they should know where they are standing & should
understand what they need to do or what are their key duties &
responsibilities.
Proper training of the employees on entrepreneur ship skill and
introduction of MIS and RFIDs for proper management of cargo.
