In 1935, seventeen Master Plumbers resolved to unite

all practitioners in order to modernize the practice of


plumbing and to provide clients with professionalized
plumbing services. he! organized the "#MP#P and had
it registered with the $ecurities and %&change
'ommission.

$ubse(uentl!, the #ssociation was accredited b! the


P)' on *ctober +, 19,5 as the fourteenth accredited
professional organization.

he "#MP#P pioneered in e-orts leading towards the


creation of the .epartment of Public $ervices in the 'it!
of Manila and the passage of 'it! *rdinance +/11, 0he
Plumbing 'ode for the 'it! of Manila.1 It also initiated
the formulation of the "ational Plumbing 'ode of the
Philippines which was promulgated on 2anuar! +3,
1959.
In the ensuing !ears, the #ssociation activel! engaged
itself in the formulation of the "ational 4uilding 'ode, the
passage of the law creating the "ational 5aterwor6s and
$ewerage #uthorit!, and the enactment of )epublic #ct "o.
13,3, 0Plumbing 7aw,1 on 2une 13, 1955. *n 2anuar! +3,
1959, the "ational Plumbing 'ode of the Philippines
prepared b! "#MP#P was promulgated and approved b!
Malaca8ang. "#MP#P assisted in the passage of the law
creating the "ational 5aterwor6s and $ewerage #uthorit!

curriculum for Master Plumbing=Plumbing

*n 2une +3, 19;,, the ?irst #mendment


to )epublic #ct 13,3 was approved,
which e-ected the inclusion of
0#sbestos<'ement Pipe1 as an approved
plumbing material. 4efore Martial 7aw in
19,+, )epublic #ct "o. ;5/1 otherwise
6nown as the 04uilding 'ode of the
Philippines1 was passed with the
0"ational Plumbing of 19591 as referral
code in full te&t.

In 199,, "#MP#P President 2aime M.


'abase spearheaded the drafting of the
)evised Plumbing 'ode. ?inall!, in
*ctober 1999, "#MP#P submitted the
same to the 4oard of %&aminers for
Master Plumbers. #fter careful review,
the Professional )egulation 'ommission
adopted the )evised Plumbing 'ode of
1999 which President 2oseph %strada
approved pursuant to $ection / of
)epublic #ct "o. 13,3 last .ecember
1999.

In 1999, "#MP#P initiated the >ling of a


legislative proposal to upgrade the trade
of Master Plumbers to the profession of
Plumbing %ngineers.

install and repair pipes, appliances, and >&tures.

# plumber usuall! follows blueprints and building codes when


installing various >&tures, such as sin6s and bathtubs.

5hen a pipe or appliance stops functioning properl!, a plumber

# master plumber is a licensed professional who installs


and repairs various commercial and residential plumbing
