Carding is defined as the reduction of entangled mass of fibers to filmly
web by working them between two closely spaced relatively moving
surfaces clothed with sharp points.

Card feeding ?
Card feeding is of two types:
Lap Feed (Conventional)
Chute feed (Modern)
(a) Single chute feed system
(b) Double chute feed system

The blow room machinery is linked to the cards by trunking and the opened
cleaned cotton is conveyed by pneumatic means to each card this the
principle of chute feed system.

Basic elements of chute feed system ?

01. Conveyer system.
02. Proper control of air pressure.
03. A mechanism to feed the material at uniform weight per unit length.
04. A delivery system to feed material to card feed rollers.
05. A sensing mechanism to keep a certain amount of material as reserve

Chute Feed Merits
Direct automatic feed to card
increases B/R working efficiency.

Elimination of Man power during
scutcher operation.

Processing of rejected lap is avoided.

Due to loose form of feeding of fibres
trash particles can be removed easily
during carding.

Suitable for synthetic fibres of bulky
in nature, avoiding

01. Irregularities due to lap licking in high humidity.
02. Elimination of irregularities due to double laps, lap splitting,
lap piecing etc.
03. Reduction of 1% C.V in chute feed carding system.
04.Difficulty in removing of crushed foreign materials and trash
during calendering is reduced.
05. High performance of carding due to high degree of openness
of feed web.
06. Labour requirement is less due to no lap transportation and
lap change in cards
1. Flock feeding is the only solution for high production cards.

2. Linear density of the web to the card is not as good as lap.

3. Installation is not flexible.

4. Auto leveler is a must , hence investment cost an maintenance
cost is more.

1. Raw material, delivered by a fan between the UNIflex B 60 and the chutes
or by the UNIstore A 78, travels via the transport duct, which extends over
all integrated machines within a unit, into the reserve chutes (upper half of
the chute) of the individual cards.

2. The feed roller, which seals the upper half of the chute, pushes the stock into
the region of the opening roller, and this roller in turn plucks out fine tufts
and discharges them into the actual feed chute (lower part).

3. electronic pressure switch ensures constant filling and density of material
in the chute; this is obtained by adjusting the speed of the feed roll (above
the opening roller).

4. The airflow in the chute continually carries the tufts to the zone in which
the perforated sheet is currently least covered by fibers

Experimental
Procedure

The purpose of present work with
the evaluation of yarn parameters
of chute fed materials,

by means of standardization of
setting parameters in various
downstream processes ,

right from blow room to ring frame,

brought about by aerofed and
conventional lap fed mechanism.

Various studies from cotton mixing
to yarn have been made up.
1.From the productivity point of view chute feed spinning
method is advantageous over lap feed.
2. The flow of material althrough the C.F line is always more or
less keeps a whirling turbulance of air.
3. Technically speaking the primary leading hooks of the material
may appear as a trailing hooks and vice-versa.
4. Due to the tendency of all the fibrous materials to change its
own direction of flow by means of different curvature of ducting
of aero feed process.
5. specially short floating immatured one, which may turn into a
ball like formation, known
as Nep.

It may be stated that with this coarser variety the overall level of
yarn quality dis improves.

As long as quality values of yarn are concerned with B/R,
scutcher line card system may possess an overall superior
quality than compared to aero feed technology
