FAITH IN THE ANGELS

Iman is to believe in ALLAH, His

Messengers, His Angels, The Last
Day and in Al-Qadar, i.e., the
good and the bad.
FAITH IN THE ANGELS
Comprises of:-

 Belief in the Existence.

 Belief in the Functions.
 Belief in the Names.
 Belief in the Attributes.
CREATION
Angels are the creation of ALLAH. They were
created from light.

The Prophet (PBUH) said: “ The angels were

created from light, the jinn were created from
smokeless fire and Adam was created from
that which has been described to you.”

They were created before mankind.

CAN WE SEE THEM?
ALLAH has not given our eyes the ability
to see them.

No one among this Ummah has seen them

in their true form apart from Prophet
Muhammed (PBUH).

Human beings are able to see them only

when they appear in human forms.
THEY TAKE DIFFERENT
FORMS
ALLAH has bestowed upon the angels the
ability to take on different forms.

He sent Jibraeel (AS) in human form to:

 Maryam (AS)
 Ibraheem (AS)
 Loot (AS)
THEY TAKE DIFFERENT
FORMS

Aa’isha (RA) saw the Prophet Muhammed

(PBUH) placing his hand on the mane of
Dihyah Al-Kalbee’s horse while talking to
him. When she asked about it, he replied
that it was Jibraeel and he had send
greetings to her.
NUMBER
Angels are very great in number.

None knows their exact number except

ALLAH.

“ None knows the hosts of your Lord except

Him.” [Soorah Al-Mudassir]
NUMBER
Hadees regarding the number of Angels:
 “ There is no space in the seven heavens- a
foot long or a hand-span or a palm’s width
which does not have an angel standing,
prostrating and bowing.”
 “ On The Day Of Judgment, Hell will be
brought with 70,000 ropes, each will be
pulled by 70,000 angels.”
NUMBER
When Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) asked
Jibraeel (AS) about the number of angels
on the night Miraj, he said:
“ This is Bayt-al-Mumoor (the much
frequented house); every day 70,000
angels pray in it, and they never come
back to it.”
WHERE DO THEY STAY?

The angels stay in the Heavens.

They come down to the earth by the

command of ALLAH and on special
occasions such as Laylatul-Qadr.
STATUS

Angels vary in their status before their Lord.

Jibraeel (AS) holds the High Rank in the

sight of ALLAH.

The best of the angels are the ones who took

part in the Battle Of Badr.
PHYSICAL COMPOSITION
Angels have great physical composition.

The Prophet (PBUH) said:

“ I saw Jibraeel descending from heaven,
and his great size filled the space between
the heaven and the earth.”
WINGS
Wings are the important physical
characteristics of the angels.

Some have 2 wings, some 3 or 4 and some

have even more than that.

The angel Jibraeel (AS) has 600 wings.

FOOD AND DRINK

Angels are created in such a way that they

do not eat and drink.

ALLAH has informed us that the angels

came to Ibraheem (AS) in human form
and he offered them food, but they did
not stretch their hands towards it.
THEIR POWER
Angels have great power.

If ALLAH commands just one of them, he is

able to destroy the creation just as what
occurred with the people of Thamood and
the people of Loot.
GREAT SPEED
What is their speed?
GREAT SPEED

No friends it is far more greater than

this.

It cannot be measured by human

standards.
OBEDIENCE TO ALLAH
Angels are by nature obedient servants of
ALLAH.

Due to their great knowledge about ALLAH

and fear of Him, they never disobey Him.
“ Those who are near Him are not too proud
to worship Him, nor are they weary. They
glorify His praises night and day, they
never slacken.”
WHO IS AN ENEMY OF
ALLAH?
He who holds enmity towards an angel, is an
enemy of ALLAH.

A Muslim is required to love all the angels

because angels are the slaves of ALLAH
and they do only what ALLAH commands
them.
WHY ARE ANGELS NOT
PROPHETS?
The reasons are:
 The nature of angels is different from that of
man.
 People would not be able to deal with an
angel face to face and learn from him
 Seeing and keeping contact with angels is
not easy
 Although Prophet (PBUH) was the best of
mankind, he fainted when he first saw
Jibraeel (AS).
