dispatch either by road, rail and air, between all the countries. Merchant Navy fleet may include Passenger
ships, Tanker ships, cargo ships, bulk carriers, refrigerator ships, container ships, barge carrying ships
including roll on/roll off ships. With growing economic and fastest developing country India have a largest
merchant shipping fleets and have a variety of jobs in Indian as well as foreign vessels.

Attempts are being made to create new openings and facilitate employment of ratings. GP Rating
candidates are those who have been trained in both Deck and Engine Room duties. Such ratings may be
employed in either department according to the needs of the company. Ratings participate in seamanship
activities, cargo handling, maintenance work, operation and maintenance of machinery.

Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th Standard from Govt. recognized board with Science, English &
Maths as subjects. Minimum 40 % in English at 10th Std. or in 10+2, or in Diploma or Degree or ITI I.T.I.
2 Year Engineering Trades from Govt. Approved Institute with minimum 50% aggregate marks in final year

Educational Qualification :-
Age should not be less than 17.5 Yrs and not to exceed 25 Yrs prior to the date of commencement of
course.
Age Limit :-
6/6 in each eye without visual aids. Normal colour vision. Candidates may have to undergo a full eyesight
test conducted by the Mercantile Marine Department (MMD) before being finally selected for the
programme.
