Power pack provides hydraulic power to operate CTU
and pressure control equipment
Power Pack Component
Engine
Engine generates power to activate hydraulic pump that force
hydraulic fluid through the system to power CTU component
Type of engine that is commonly used is diesel engine
Commonly used Caterpillar or Detroit engine

Hydraulic Pump
Hydraulic pump draws
hydraulic fluid from reservoir
and then force it to flow to
various CT component

Hydraulic pump that used in CT
power pack may be vane pump
or piston pump
Hydraulic Reservoir
Reservoir main function:
Store hydraulic fluid
Allows the fluid to cool
Allows settlement of dirt and
metal particles
Allow entrained air to be
released
Filter and Strainer
Strainer
- Coarse filter
- Placed in reservoir suction line
- Can be cleaned and Re-use

Filter
- Fine filter
- Placed in reservoir return line
- Cant be cleaned and should be
replaced
Pressure Control Valve
Pressure control valve limit the maximum system
pressure and reduce pressure in certain circuit

There are 3 types valve:
Relief Valve
Unloading Valve
Pressure Reducing Valve




Accumulator
Accumulator is installed in
hydraulic circuit to storage
energy and to smooth out
pulsation

There are two type of
accumulator, piston and
bladder. The most common
and popular is bladder type

Heat Exchanger
Located on a return line to the
reservoir because cant withstand
high pressure

It is used to cool the hydraulic fluid
before get into reservoir

Heat exchanger can use water or air
to cool fluid
