FUNCTIONS OF EW PROCESSOR
SIGNAL PROCESSING REQ..
1. DFT
Mathematical procedure harmonic/frequency content discrete
signal.
One to one mapping

For N input time domain samples spectral content at N equally
spaced frequency points
DFT output sum of point to point product b/w i/p sequence and
complex sinusoid.
Analysis frequency mfs/N
Frequency resolution fs/N

FIR filters are linear phase filters, so phase
distortion is avoided
1
stable due to their absence of poles in the
transfer function
2
feed forward filters, and do not utilize
feedback
3
design is primarily performed using the
windowing method

two basic components of a
multirate system are the
down sampler (or decimator)
and the up sampler (or
expander)

ARCHITECTURE
NON-OVERLAPPED FFT
Input data frames of N samples FFT

Poor time resolution
OVERLAPPED FFT
Input data overlapped FFT
Data overlap 128/192 (256)
Advantages: increases output rate, time resolution without degrading
frequency resolution.
Disadvantages: implementation complexity

CASCADED FIR FILTER BASED
ARCHITECTURE
Input band M wide filters.
Each M filter N narrow filters
Threshold is applied for each filter output.
Good time resolution
Narrow filters used filter order increase number of
multipliers.

FFT+FIR FILTER ARCHITECTURE
Detection of FFT four FIR filters
Parameter measurement 4I and 4Q decimated filters.
Better time resolution simple FFT.
Requires extra storage.

PROPOSED METHOD: POLYPHASE FFT
Decimation frequency domain
Decimation in frequency reduces complexity of FFT
Determines spectral output of N point FFT N/D point FFT
Trade off frequency resolution
