GLOBAL

WARMING
INTRODUCTION
Global warming is an
average increase in the
temperature of the
atmosphere near the Earths
surface and in the
troposphere, which can
contribute to changes in
global climate patterns.
Global warming can occur
from a variety of causes, both
natural and human induced.
Many people consider that Global Warming is
the greatest environmental threat of the 21
st

Century.
However, during the 80s and early 90s
scientists argued about the causes and effects
of global warming.
In the late 1990s scientists reached a
consensus that global warming was a cause for
concern.
So, why should you be concerned about global
warming?
Why should we be concerned about Global
Warming?
Causes of Global Warming :
1. Carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel
burning power plants
2. Carbon dioxide emissions from burning
gasoline for transportation
3. Methane emissions from animals,
agriculture such as rice paddies, and from
Arctic seabeds
4. Deforestation, especially tropical forests for
wood, pulp, and farmland
5. Increase in usage of chemical fertilizers on
croplands
6. Rise in sea levels worldwide
7. More killer storms
8. Massive crop failures
9. Widespread extinction of
species
Effects of Global Warming :
Melting of polar ice caps and flooding
Irregular Weather Patterns
Changes in Food Production
Droughts and Desertification
Changing Ecosystems
Human Health
Global Warming - Prevention
One good way to prevent global warming is
choosing to use power produced by alternative means
rather than by the burning of fossil fuels, which give
off large amounts of carbon dioxide.
Limit the use of appliances or materials which produce
CFC to reduce global warming.
Planting trees is another great way to prevent global
warming
Future generations must be encouraged and taught
to save the Earth
Save Earth
Conclusion
a
One of the major environmental issues haunting people is global
warming. Man is now acknowledged to be one of the main contributors.
We need to teach our children, and increase awareness in factory
owners, of the problems of energy conservation and global warming.
The media has a major role to play in helping people understand the
importance and impact of global warming.

Global warming is a deep rooted problem, and only a collective effort
of humanity can reduce its effects. Global warming won't disappear
overnight .For us and for our future generations, each of us must make
the decision to take whatever steps are necessary to prevent global
warming, because together we can make a difference!
