INTRODUCTION

The Segway PT is a two-wheeled, self-balancing, battery-powered electric
vehicle invented by Dean Kamen. It is produced by Segway Inc. of New
Hampshire, USA. The name Segway is derived from the word segue,
meaning smooth transition.
Computers and motors in the base of the device keep the Segway PT upright
Gyroscopic sensors and fluid-based levelling sensors detect the weight shift. To
turn, the user presses the handlebar to the left or the right.

COMPONENTS USED IN SEGWHEELS

CHASIS
It consists of a wooden riding platform of 25x25 sq. inch.
Handles are made of PVC pipes.
It supports batteries and electronics on upper side and batteries and wheels
under it.

MOTOR
There are two motors , each for one wheel. Each motor is driven by a separate
12v battery.

CHAIN DRIVE
Chain drives are used to transmit power between motor and wheel. Type of chain
used is Power transmitting chains (Bush Roller Type).







BATTERY
Two 12V-DC battery is used in segwheels.
Each battery is connected with each motor.

DPDT SWITCH
Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) switch.
It is used to guide the direction of rotation of motor shaft.
By operating the switch the direction of vehicle can be controlled.




Tilt Sensor
Tilt sensors allow you to detect orientation or inclination.
Small, inexpensive, low-power and easy-to-use dont wear out easily.
Main Board
A motherboard is the main printed circuit board (PCB).
It holds many of the crucial electronic components of the system, such as the central
processing unit (CPU) and memory, and provides connectors for other peripherals.




Motor Board
The motor board gets control data from the main board and interacts
with the motor driver to adjust the motor power.

Sensor Board
The board contains one SPI Gyroscope ADXRS450 300/sec, and two MXA2500G
1.7 g that has an angular offset of 45deg to each other

USES
In areas with adequate sidewalks, curb cuts at intersections, and ramps.
By policeman and security and also by individuals for sightseeing or to travel
short distances.
The Segway can be used on rough terrain in remote farm areas or in the woods.
Zero-emissions are given off during operation.
