NURSING ENGLISH II

Introduction
A nurse must be able to identify the health
condition of a patient. Before a thorough
treatment is carried out, nurses must make
a record of the signs and symptoms of the
disease.

NURSING INSTRUCTION

Accordingly, the recording skill demands a


full knowledge of identifying in which part
of the body the illness is. In this section
you will study some useful expressions how
to ask your patient to do something.

USEFUL EXPRESSIONS

These expressions teach you polite form in
English. This is important for hospital staff
including nurses put patients at their ease
by being polite and pleasant.
Be careful about the way your voice rises
and falls when you say these sentences.

Practice

nurse.

Example

Caring for a sick person in the hospital over a long period


is hard work and requires stamina, so you must look after
your own health. Eating a well-balanced diet is crucial.
You also need plenty of rest and sleep. Keep in touch
with friends and if you cannot get out to see them, invite
them over to see you.
Some conditions must be considered in caring for
patients. One of them is patients consciousness. If the
patient is alert, administer a sedative and an analgesic to
decrease their anxiety.
