TRAINING

POLICY

WHAT IS TRAINING POLICY ?

Important -> a framework for management to achieve
corporate objectives
States how training will achieve its set objectives and
the focus activities within the organization (Stout,
1993)
Without the policy ->difficult to rationalize the
development of HR in an organization
Everyone should clear how the policy is being carried
out (Robinson, 1988)

WHAT IS TRAINING POLICY ?

Should state -> employees will
be trained and developed to
their maximum potential and
ability (depends on ??)

It indicates which staff are to

be trained and why, and how
that training will be
implemented

Transparent policy will help

workers to see clearly the direction

How if it happens when formulating

a companys training policy?

Training Objectives

Three key components (Stout, 1993):

Training mission (the training philosophy)
Training objectives (the specific target)
Training procedure (how to operationalize training objectives)

Gives every individual an opportunity to develop their

KSA and expertise -> betterment of the company
Whether training functions are combined or separate,
the training policy must clearly state the organizations
efforts on developing employees potentials.

Management should pay attention -> corporate mission

& philosophy, training mission & objectives.
Training manager should integrate all listed
components -> develop a comprehensive training
policy
Current and future trends in training and development
A marriage between the needs, goals, objectives of
the organization and current T&D practices
