TYPES OF SUBSTATION
1. INDOOR SUBSTATION
2. OUTDOOR SUBSTATION
3. POLE MOUNTED SUBSTATION
1. INDOOR
SUBSTATION:- The
substation which is
situated inside a
building called indoor
substation. These
substations are of low
power.
OUTDOOR
SUBSTATION:- The
substations which are
installed in an open
place under the sky.
PRIMARY/SECONDARY/DISTRIBUTI
ON SUBSTATIONS
Primary Substations receive power from EHV lines
at 400KV, 220KV, 132KV and transform the voltage
to 66KV, 33KV, 22KV or 11KV
KEY DIAGRAM
EQUIPMENTS OF SUBSTATION
a). BUS BAR :- In
electrical power
distribution, a busbar
is a strip or bar of
copper, brass or
aluminium that
conducts electricity
within a switchboard,
distribution board,
substation, battery
bank, or other
electrical apparatus.
CT & PT :- A current
transformer (CT) is
used for measurement
of alternating electric
currents. Current
transformers, together
with voltage (or
potential) transformers
(VT or PT), are known
as instrument
transformers.
ISOLATOR:- It is a
manually operated
mechanical switch
which break the
electrical circuit under
no load conditions.
TRANSFORMER:- It is
a static electrical
device which transfer
the electrical power
from one circuit to
another by changing
voltage level without
changing frequency.
CONTROL PANEL:- It
is the essential part of
a substation which
controls the whole
activity of a substation
from input to output
like tripping,
measurements etc.
POWER BANK:- It is
used to supply DC
power to different
small equipments
used in control panel
like protective relays
etc.
