Biofuel is a type of fuel whose energy is derived from biological carbon

fixation. Biofuels include fuels derived from biomass conversion, as well

as solid biomass, liquid fuels and various biogases.
Biofuels are fuels made from recently living organisms.
They can be divided into three categories:
First-generation Biofuels are made largely from edible sugars and
starches.
Second-generation Biofuels are made from no edible plant materials.
Third-generation Biofuels are made from algae and microbes.

ADVANTAGES

When we use bio fuels, rather

than fossil fuels, there is only
emission of non toxic materials
which cannot cause cancer and
breathing problems of human
beings.
There is no emission of
hazardous gases.
Eg; CO2 is 80% less than
others.
SO2 is almost 100% less than
others.

Biofuels are friendly with the

environment because they dont cause
Global Warming.
The energy release per unit mass of
bio fuel is greater than the energy
released from the unit mass of fossil
fuels.
Biofuels are locally available in every
region of the world so that if these
are properly used, there is no energy
crisis.
Fossil fuels are coming to the end,
scientists say that up to 2040, all the
resources of fossil fuels will be
finished so Biofuel will be used in
replacement of it in the future.

Production of Biofuels

First the plants(crops) absorb

the heat from the sun.
Next, the crops are refined in
factories and food products are
produced.
Then, biodiesel is
from the factories.

Finally,
the
biodiesel
is
collected in the tanks in the
petrol pumps and used for the
cars.

NATURAL GAS

INTRODUCTION

NATURAL GAS
is a naturally occurring hydrocarbon gas mixture consisting
primarily of methane, with up to 20 percent concentration
of other hydrocarbons (usually ethane) as well as small
amounts of impurities such as carbon dioxide.

Natural gas is widely used and is an important energy

source in many applications including heating buildings,
generating electricity, providing heat and power to
industry and vehicles and is also a feedstock in the
manufacture of products such as fertilizers.

Uses of Natural Gas

Power Generation:

Natural gas is a major source of electricity generation through

the use of gas turbines and steam turbines.

Domestic use:

Natural gas dispensed from a simple stovetop can generate heat

in excess of 2000F (1093C) making it a powerful domestic
cooking and heating fuel.

Transportation:

CNG is a cleaner alternative to other automobile fuels such

as gasoline (petrol) and diesel.

Other:

Natural
gas
is
also
used
in
the
manufacture
of fabrics, glass, steel, plastics, paint, and other products.
