a wide variety of feelings, thoughts,
and behavior.

• Emotions may manifest themselves as
subjective experiences, often
associated with mood, temperament,
personality, and disposition
Emotional Literacy
• Emotional literacy is the
ability to identify,
understand, and respond to
emotions in oneself
 and others in a
 healthy manner .

Happiness, fear, anger, affection,

shame, disgust, surprise, lust, sadness,


elation, love, frustration, anxiety,
failure, achievement etc.


 There are TWO dimensions of emotions:

Physiological side
‘Emotion’ is a complex state of human mind,

involving bodily changes of widespread


character such as breathing, pounding heart,
flushed face, sweating palms, pulse rate,
gland secretions, etc.

Psychological side
A state of excitement or perturbation

marked by strong feelings.



Emotions and feelings
• Anger: outrage, resentment, annoyance,
hostility.
• Love: acceptance, friendliness, trust,
kindness, infatuation.
• Shame: guilt, , humiliation, regret.
• Fear: anxiety, nervousness, terror.
• Enjoyment: happiness, joy, relief,
contentment, pleasure.
• Sadness: Grief, sorrow, cheerlessness,
gloom.
• Surprise: Shock, astonishment, amazement
wonder
What is exactly EQ

Emotional intelligence or Emotional Quotient
is simply defined as:
• knowing what feels good, what feels bad,
 and how to get from bad to good.
• Knowing your emotions and knowing emotion
of others.
• It refers to emotional management skills
which provide competency to balance
emotions and reason so as to maximize
 long term happiness.

It is the ability of an individual to

respond to the variety of emotions

Anger
• Anger is a natural emotion, just like
so many of the other emotions that
you go through in your day-to-day
life.
• Anger in itself is not a problem. The
real problem is how you handle your
anger.
Tips to handle anger

• Express anger constructively….
Anger and health
• Anger can have a negative impact on your overall
health—physical, emotional and psychological.
Getting angry often or aggressive expression of
anger can be harmful. Pent up anger can affect
you too.
• Most common health problems associated with
destructive anger are:
q headaches, sleeplessness, digestive problems,
q high blood pressure, eating difficulties,
q stress and stress-related problems,
q deep sadness, if your reason for getting angry is
not adequately addressed and uncontrolled anger
can sometimes lead to a heart attack in people

about the emotions themselves. This emotional

Aggression
• It refers to behavior between members of
the same species that is intended to
cause pain or harm.
• Predatory or defensive behavior between
members of different species is not
normally considered "aggression."
• Aggression takes a variety of forms
among humans and can be
 physical, mental, or verbal.

aassertiveness, although the terms are
often used interchangeably among
laypeople, e.g. an aggressive
salesperson.

aggression.
1)Hostile, affective, or retaliatory

aggression by means of direct physical
violence.

you hate., possible incidents that may
provoke you.
Think yourself and/or discuss with others
to find a justification for all these
things.
Write them in a book.
Read them in every weekend.
