years from like-minded people

architects Perkins Eastman

Initial commitments of funding already in place and balance being raised through
endowments

Plan to start two schools (Arts and Natural Sciences) by July 2013 in collaboration
with University of Pennsylvania & other leading universities/schools of the world

Vision for Young India Fellowship

To develop unique & highpotential change agents of

India through a multidisciplinary programme,
guided by eminent scholars
and leaders of our times

The need for YIF

Leading undergraduate programmes in India seem to focus too early on professional

and specialised courses (depth) that tend to stifle the abilities of talented young minds
to think holistically
New ideas and possibilities get created at the boundaries of various disciplines
A large pool of gifted students are unable to avail high-quality learning experience

from reputed institutions in India or outside due to financial or other contextual

constraints
Liberal arts and humanities have lost their value in the delivery of a holistic learning

experience at the undergraduate level in India

YIFP reaffirms the growth story of India and the potential of its next generation

waiting to be unleashed. India needs its own Rhodes Scholars

Key Features
58 of Indias brightest and exceptional graduates (recent Bachelors degree awardees)

with demonstrated passion for an idea or issue of wider social relevance will be offered
a scholarship to immerse in a truly exceptional learning programme
One-year multi-disciplinary curriculum structured to develop a breadth of

perspectives, open minds and hone leadership skills along while working on real
projects in sector of their choice
Programme to be delivered by the best academicians, practitioners, expert trainers,

business, social, political leaders from across the world

Collaboration with one or more leading Universities to bring the best content, practices

and academics from around the world. University of Pennsylvania has confirmed
its participation in the programme
Life time mentoring and support for each student from an assigned eminent mentor in

the field of interest

9
