 AMR Codec is the “state of the art” speech coder


 Key features – speech quality, variable rates, robustness
 Contains a set of fixed rate speech codecs with error protection
Narrowband modes (Kbps): 12.2, 10.2, 7.95, 7.4, 6.7, 5.9, 5.15. 4.75 Kbps
