Sepak takraw is played between two teams of three

players; the left inside, right inside and back. The

court is about the same size as a badminton court
(20 by 44 feet) and the net is 1.52 metres high.
Traditionally balls were hand-woven from bamboo
or rattan, but most modern ones are synthetic.
Basic rules and scoring are
similar to volleyball. Each
team is allowed a maximum
of three touches of the ball
to get it back over the net to
the other side without
letting it touch the ground.
The first team to score
either 15 or 21 points,
depending on the rules in
play, wins the set. The team
that prevails in two sets
wins the match.

The most common mistake of new players is the setting. They set
the ball with their hands too often and in times when it is illegal.
There are sometimes that a set is okay but only if it is perfect, like on
a free ball that is not hard driven. It is not against the rules to set a
ball that comes over net but you have to do it with more perfection
than a normal set that your partner passes to you. This means that if
you dont have perfect nectar hands, dont ever set the ball with
your hands when playing outdoor volleyball. You need to just arm
set until you practice enough to have clean sets with no spin.

When blocking, if you touch the ball it

counts as 1 of your 3 hits. This is not like
indoor where you get 3 more touches
after the block.

A gaol is scored when the ball is

successfully hit into the
opponents goal from within
the 16 yard area.

Each team is made up of

11 players and 6
substitutes.
Every player has a
hockey stick of which
they can only use one
side of the stick to hit
the ball.

TEAM SPORTS

There are no scrums, nor rucks and

mauls, and a tackle occurs when an
opposing player touches the ball carrier
with both hand.
When tackled, the ball carrier
stops moving, places the ball at
his feet, and rolls it backwards.
One of the tackled players
teammates will approach and
pick the ball up, either running
with it or passing it out.

A foul or infringement is called when a

player:
Purposely tries to hit the ball off another
player with the intent of causing harm to
that player.
Intentionally uses a body part to assist in
moving or stopping the ball.
Hits the ball with the rounded side of
their hockey stick.

Possession gets transferred to the

other team when a penalty occurs,
when a pass is dropped, or when the
ball goes out of bounds.

Touch rugby blends the restarting element of League

rugby with the continuity element of Union rugby. This
combination allows players to experience the two
different codes of rugby, as well as get a feel for the game
without having to worry about the physicality.

The ball may always be played when

it is at rest or rolling in the goal-area
It is permitted to dribble the ball
The ball may not remain on the
ground longer than 3 seconds and
then be picked up again by the same
player who last touched it

Team consists of up to 10 players, 3 court

players and 1 goalkeeper may be on the
playing court.
All players play barefoot. It is permitted to
wear socks or sports bandages.
If the number of players eligible to play
drops below 4, the game is discontinued
and the other team is deemed the winner
of the match.

playing area and two goal areas

The game consists of two halves, which are scored separately.

Each half lasts 10 minutes. The half-time break lasts 5
