Be attitudes
We are in a Kingdom
Every Kingdom has values and norms that
determine how they behave
Values of Love, Unity, Respect, Equality
Greatest is the servant of all
Jesus was spelling out the values of His
Kingdom

Blessed are the pure in heart

Guard your heart with all diligence
(Ps.19:14)
God looks at the heart (1 Sam 16:7)
Doorways ((Eyes(Films/places we go to),
Ears(gossip/discouragement/music),
Food?)
Legalism produces anxiety, guilt,
frustration (putting cart before the horse)
Jesus brings forgiveness and salvation
(Ps.32:2)

Advantages of having a pure

heart
To the pure you show yourself pure, but
to the devious you show yourself shrewd.
(2 Sam 22:17, All things- Titus 1:15)
And after my skin has been destroyed, yet
in my flesh I will see God (Job 19:26,
Ps.24)
Surely God is good to Israel, to those who
are pure in heart (Ps. 73:1)
One who loves a pure heart ...will have the
king for a friend. (Prov. 22:11)

Seeing God
Job was religious but did not know God
Only the pure in heart can see God (Ps.
24:1-5)
Pure- Katharos-To cleanse from
filth/iniquity. To be free from sin
Iniquities limit God from hearing us
(Is.59:2-5)
Jesus comes as our redeemer (Is.59:1617)

We cant do it in our own

Jesus did not come to water down the law
We are able to fulfil through faith in Jesus
By the Power of the Holy Spirit
Dwell in the Word of God
God replaces stony heart with heart of flesh
Our work is simply to believe in Jesus (John
6:28-29)
Not comparing with others (2 Cor.11, Lk.18:11)
Faith in Christ makes us pure in Gods eyes

We have a part to play

Let us cleanse ourselves from all
defilement of the flesh and spirit,
perfecting holiness in the fear of God (2
Cor.7:1)
Put on the armour of God (Eph 6:12)
If you fall, go to Christ and confess (1 Jn
1:9)
Your heart is cleansed by Faith in Christ
and His Word (1 Peter 1:22, John. 15:3,
Acts 15:9)
