Overall Purpose of the Job: The purpose of the position is to develop strategy and to ensure
that all aspects of daily operations run effectively and efficiently.
Brief Description:
The Head of Operations has to ensure that all the strategic and business objectives are in
conjunction with practices followed. Support the staff members and ensure business growth
through directing and managing business operations. The Head of Operations will be
responsible for overseeing human resource function, finance function, marketing function,
supply management, stores and administration. The role also helps in creating budgets in
collaboration with other team members, and undertaking other miscellaneous tasks as and
when they arise. The role is responsible for the management of all operational activities linked
to the branch.
To promote a customer care approach within the retail business, investigating complaints or issues of poor
customer care, both timely and efficiently.
Procedures
To ensure policies, procedures, guidelines and legislation comply with the guidelines.
To ensure the safety and security of people, stock, cash and property, implementing effective
administration and security systems
To identify the effective methods of stock generation in conjunction with the Shop Manager, and to
respond to stock concerns where relevant.
Performance
To grow sales profit, and to motivate staff to achieve this same goal.
As the Retail Operations head, to help develop, implement, review and monitoring the retail
operating plan and budget.
To maintain, seek, utilise and analyse management information including EPOS (electronic point of
sale) data to manage performance, seize opportunities and make informed management decisions,
taking appropriate remedial action as required to reach and maintain retail budgeted sales and net
income contributions and develop and drive the business.
To ensure all shops are efficiently and effectively managed, visiting them regularly, and monitoring
their compliance with policy, procedure and standards.
Play a significant role in long-term planning, with the view to deliver operational excellence.
To effectively help recruit, induct, lead, manage, train and develop Managers to agreed
procedures and standards.
To give support to staff so they have the opportunity to develop their skills in the role and to
achieve growth in sales.
To ensure that all performance issues, and other issues within the store, are addressed in an
appropriate and timely manner.
To uphold the reputation of the company by maintaining high personal standards and projecting a
warm, appreciative and welcoming attitude towards customers, donors and staff.
To maintain and develop beneficial working relationships with all the departments to further the
organisations objectives
Person Specification
Educational Qualification Required:
Bachelors degree in Science / Business Management with a post graduate degree in management
(Preferably Operations Management)
