PURIFIED WATER

The water that has been

treated to filter out
sediments, remove all
dissolved minerals and kill all
micro organisms.

BORE WELL
(RAW WATER
SOURCE)

The raw water is having suspended solids, dissolved impurities, colloids, organics, bacterial
impurities etc and resulting in high TDS of the Raw Water. All the impurities will foul the RO
membranes or any filters if used down stream. Hence, it is proposed to reduce the impurities to
desired level by pre-treatment.

Sodium Hypo Chlorite Dosing Solution: - Provided to disinfect the feed water as well as control
the bacterial concentration in the subsequent steps. Free chlorine is maintained around 1 2 ppm.
Free chlorine in water reduces the possibility of bacterial germination in Multi grade filter and
Softener, which are otherwise potential breeding ground.

MGF is provided to reduce

turbidity & suspended
particles up to 100. MGF
is designed with multi
layer of pebbles, gravels
and mix sand.

SOFTENER SERVICE
Softener unit is provided to
reduce the hardness of water up
to <5ppm. The unit is provided
with tank to prepare brine
solution & resin regeneration.
Sodium Chloride lessens the
hardness of water by replacing
calcium ions and magnesium
ions with sodium ions and so
gives the water of more purity.
Regeneration of softener is
required when softener bed
become saturated with hard
ions like calcium & magnesium.

Micron Cartridge Filter (MCF):- MCF with 5 cartridge is provided before ultra filtration (UF)
module as additional safety for ultra filtration from suspended particles.
Ultra Filtration module (UF):- UF system is a membrane separation process. UF employs a cross
flow path of water across a membrane where the purified water and the reject are separated out
continuously. The reject water containing the separated bacteria is continuously drained and hence
avoiding the accumulation of bacteria.

pH Correction Dosing :- Provided to maintain the quantity of permeates. An alkaline pH also ensures the removal of
dissolved CO2 from the system during desalination.
Anti Scalent Dosing :- The salt during desalination tends to deposit on membrane surface thus affecting the
performance of RO system. To avoid deposition of salts on RO membranes Anti Scalent dosing is provided which
reduces salt deposition on RO membranes and increases the cleaning duration.
Micron Cartridge Filter (MCF):- High suspended particles in water may choke membrane passage and may also
damage the membranes thus affecting performance and life of RO system. 5 Cartridge filter removes the suspended
particles from the feed water.
Sodium Meta Bi Sulphate Dosing;- The free chlorine in feed water is injurious for RO Polyamide membranes and is
removed from water by SMBS Dosing.

Reverse Osmosis:- A process which removes

the dissolved salt molecules & metallic ions from
water by forcing it through polyamide semipermeable membrane by operating the system
above the osmotic pressure and each membrane
is designed for NaCl salt rejection by 95- 97%.
The pretreated water is passed through RO

Electro De Ionization (EDI):- The permeate water from RO system is further to be treated
by passing through resin bed for removal of dissolved salt (approx < 5ppm) and to bring down the
overall conductivity <0.5S/cm (micro siemens/cm) (Design). By passing through resin beds
negatively charged (Cationic) resin removes positive ions while positively charged one (Anionic)
removes negative ions.

UV system:- A UV has been provided at outlet of RO + EDI as an additional safety to control

the microbial load in the Permeate water & to achieve desired microbes limit for purified water
system.
