What are We Trying to Do Here?

Example: Thanks a lot that does
help ... Your website suggests the
wet weather component of
InfoSewer can size pipes using
synthetic and unit hydrographs.
This is exactly what we would
need as Bentley stormCAD can
only use rational method for
design so we have to tweak time
of concentration to get the peak
runoff to sort of match.

Introduction

Where are We Trying?

Example: I would like to know what tools
members of the group use to model
stormwater and evaluate the use of
different BMPs. Based on your
experience which are more useful and
why? We would like to select one main
tool for our work in the company to
evaluate pollutant loadings, land use,
hydrology, removal efficiencies, etc.
We have used mostly SWMM and very
little HydroCAD. I know MUSIC is
popular around Australia, SWMM in the
US, Microdrainage in the UK, etc. Here
in Spain SWMM is starting to be
popular.

InfoSWMM 2D uses SWMM

5 Objects to connect the 1D
Network to the 2D Mesh.

A 1D Node if it has a flood

type of 2D is automatically
connected to a SWMM 5
Fixed Outfall via a Bottom

2. You can have one combination
rainfall/flow file or two files
3. You need to define the Rainfall File
as either Intensity or Volume along
with the flow and rainfall time
interval
4. The format of both the flow and
rainfall file need to be defined
before the files can be read or the
analysis can start.
5. The fields are columns in the ASCII

1. Extract DWF separates the dry weather

flow from the flow time series to isolate
the RDII component of the flow time
series,
2. You can additionally separate out a
groundwater flow component from the
dry weather flow.

the delete option, but
2. This should not be
necessary if your dry
weather flow has a good
pattern.

1. The next step is
to calibrate the

using the
Genetic
Algorithm (GA)
2. It is usually best
to constrain the
GA parameters
to a suggested

existing
parameter
values.

solve for RT&K.

SWMMLive (Components)
Live Group - used to host "live-specific" model objects (specific to SWMMLive)
but can also contain other database items.
InfoSWMM Network - used hold network data imported from InfoSWMM.
Action List - composed of a list of actions that are triggered based on the
generation of a defined Alert.
Alert Definition List - composed of alert definitions used to alert the user about
interesting occurrences in both the data coming from external sources and the
simulation results.
Manifest - contains a collection of items which will be associated with the model
network to be simulated in SWMMLive Operator Client. Manifests define how
simulations are to be run and how they will be displayed in the SWMMLive
Operator Client (themes, ground models and areas of interested can be selected
within the manifest object).
Manifest Deployment - contains a collection of manifests which will be available
for display in SWMMLive Operator Client.

InfoSWMM Slide - 268

SWMMLive (Components)
SWMMLive Configuration Manager - used to create, manage and maintain network
models and to convert off-line InfoSWMM models into real time forecasting systems.
SWMMLive Operator Client - used to report the forecast results. The interface is
designed to be easy to use and to provide clear representations of the forecast
information, using a combination of graphical and textual content. The manner in which
the contents are presented is entirely user-configurable (within SWMMLive Configuration
Manager, allowing the important information to be clearly visible to those operating the
system). See SWMMLive Operator Client help for more information.
Innovyze Live Server - manages automatic simulations, provides real-time services and
information to the SWMMLive Operator Clients, for example new system alerts, and
performs database maintenance, such as purging old simulations.
Work Group Data Server - The Workgroup Data Server is a server component which
manages access to Workgroup databases. The data server is designed to improve the
performance and reliability of database operations in a Workgroup environment.
ICM Agent (and remote ICM Agents) - The ICM agent acts as a simulation server,
scheduling simulations either locally, or on other remote computers by means of the
Coordinator.
External Data - such as SCADA/telemetry or RADAR data. Time Series Database objects
(scalar time series databases and spatial time series databases) provide an intermediate
store between external data sources and runs in SWMMLive Configuration Manager.
