VALCEA COUNTY Romania

The Valcea County is situated in the Central-Southern part of


Romania. 420.000 inhabitants. Its surface is 2.4 percent of Romania,
of which about a half is covered by forests and forestry flora.
The area has been inhabited since Dacian and Roman times.
The North side of the County is occupied by the mountains from the
Southern Carpathians group. They are separated by the Olt River
Valley - the most accessible passage between Transylvania and
Muntenia. Along the Olt River Valley there are smaller groups of
mountains, the most spectacular being the Cozia Mountains.
The main river is the Olt River crossing the County from North to
South.

The mineral waters from Calimanesti-Caciulata, Baile


Govora and Baile Olanesti are miraculous in the cure of a
lot of diseases.
The tourist network of this county consists in cultural,

Ramnicu is one of the most prestigious
schools in Valcea County, Romania.
The school is situated in the centre of the
town having 1500 pupils, 106 teachers and
41 administrative staff.
