Architecture
Frisco: A Portrait Of a
City
In Frisco, the dominant element in religion is believing in one of the
branches of Protestant Christianity. In the picture, Stonebriar Community
Church is a Non-denominational church that is shown. This is a dominant
element because in the older Frisco, people who migrated here to start a
fresh life, were majority Protestant Christians, thus, a few churches began.
For example, the few in downtown Frisco, and over time, it diffused to all of
Frisco. This process hasnt even stopped yet and is still occurring, which is
therefore a dominant element in Friscos religion.

An anomaly religion of Frisco is Hinduism. In the picture, Karya Siddhi

Hanuman Temple is shown, this shows that Frisco has a community as diverse
and varying in ethnic groups, although this is still an anomaly, because Hindus
are only recently beginning to immigrate and Hindu temples arent very
common in Frisco. Thus, it is an anomaly on the cultural landscape. This goes
to show the diversity of the religions in Frisco, so there is a home for everyone.

In the Cultural Landscape of Frisco, the dominant element of

architecture is large, brick houses. This is occurring because Frisco is a
fastly developing city with the school district growing at a rapid pace.
Families that come to Frisco are typically young, but large families with
2 or more kids, and theyre seeking a fresh new start in life and
education. Therefore, our dominant element is large, but brick houses.

Restaurants

With the rapidly growing community in masses of young

adults moving in, it wasnt a surprise that McDonald's
had showed up in Frisco. McDonald's is a dominant
restaurant in Frisco because of the developing age of
Frisco. There are values and behaviors that define ways
of living, and theyve spread all throughout Frisco.
These behaviors and values are to be eating for fast
and cheap, hence drive troughs. Naturally, since
McDonald's has these cultural traits, McDonalds has
quickly become a popular and dominant restaurant in
Frisco.

An anomaly of Friscos Restaurants is Randys Steakhouse. This is

because, the restaurant has the opposite values of people in Frisco,
which are: Food that is served to you after a long time and which is fairly
expensive as well. These are uncommon cultural traits, along with them

An anomaly in the Cultural Landscape of Frisco are

apartments. The apartments are anomalies mainly because
most families are large and need houses to satisfy their
requirements and plus Frisco doesnt have a university, so
college kids arent in need of cheap dorms to stay in,
therefore, making apartments an anomaly on the cultural
landscape. This shows how Frisco is ideal for young
adults and families.

Frisco is a very rapidly growing

community, with one of the fastest
growing school districts in the nation. It is
home to a culturally unique way of
preserving our past and ensuring our
future. So if you're seeking a fresh new
start in life or for your kids in school, then
come to Frisco today!

Toponomy

Businesses

In Frisco, Heritage High School is an example of

a dominant type of Toponymy because along
with other high schools, these schools are
named after Frisco and its cultural values. For
example: Heritage, Liberty, Centennial, etc. This
connects with the cultural landscape because a
school is given a special name on what the
culture of the community values, which is, to
preserve our past and to insure our future.

Frisco
Frisco is a place full of many
fun and exciting things! Its
rapidly growing as time goes
by, with its special
essentials growing
progressively. Its home to
diverse types of people and
ethnicities, and has a
culturally unique way of
preserving our past and
ensuring our future. So, if
youre wanting a place thats
home to everyone, then
come to Frisco today!

An anomaly of Friscos cultural Toponymy is

Justin Wakeland High School. Not being named
after values, this Toponymy is after a specific
person in general. This high school is named
after him because Dr. Wakeland was one of the
most greatest contributors to FISD, receiving
many honors and recognition, and not only to
mention, that during his contributions, students
in FISD grew from 800 to 3600. Dr. Wakeland has
definitely represented the values of Frisco.
Therefore, it is an anomaly on the cultural
landscape, being named after a person, showing
that Frisco has some very kind and contributing
people.

With Frisco being one of the most rapidly developing

communities, chain reactions have strategically
expanded to Frisco. In Frisco, one of the most
dominant elements of culture in businesses are chain
businesses. Specifically Kroger, this is because with
modern times, retailers like Kroger have adapted to
having all things a typical resident of Frisco would
need. Obviously affecting the behavior a certain
Frisco resident to go to Kroger. This is also appearing
because of the fact that Kroger is a popular store
around Frisco as well, so obviously by expansion
diffusion, Kroger has expanded to Frisco.

Recreation

In Frisco, the dominant recreational activity is soccer. This is

occurring because soccer is a popular sport played across all the
country, and not to mention, that Frisco has a huge soccer
stadium in it too, not only that, but Frisco also has cultural
values, which are to stay physically active and grow. This is why
they encourage involvement in sports. In this case, soccer,
therefore connects to the cultural landscape as it represents
Friscos values.

An anomaly in Friscos recreation, is the Frisco Gun Club. This is

an anomaly because although its here, it doesnt reflect Friscos
values of growing physically and mentally as a person, not only

A business that is an anomaly is, Double Dip, this is because

double dip is a family-owned business that is independent,
meaning it has no more chain. This is on the cultural
landscape of Frisco because as an older Frisco, Double Dip
was a very popular independent family-owned custered
shop, which back then, wasnt even that uncommon.
Through time though independent businesses have either
been bought or closed due to the expansion of popular chain
businesses. Also, our values have been changed to going to
more popular and well-known businesses for quality and
price. Thus making Double Dip an anomaly on the cultural
landscape.
