SCHEME FOR MARKET DEVELOPMENT


ASSISTANCE FOR MSME EXPORTERS
Operated by the Ministry of Commerce with a view to

encourage exporters (including MSME exporters) to access


and develop overseas markets.

The scheme offers funding for participation in

international fairs, study tours abroad, trade delegations,


publicity, etc.

Individual Assistance

Assistance to individual exporters would be made


available by way of reimbursement of to & fro air fare
within permissible limits.

(SIDO)

The financial assistance will be for specific needs of each case

for improvement in areas like building, training aids/equipment


and other support services and will be on matching basis, say
50% of the cost restricted to Rs. 100.00 lakh in each case.

Micro Finance Scheme of SIDBI is under

operation since January, 1999


Under the programme, total amount of Rs.

191 crore have been sanctioned upto 31st


December, 2003, benefiting over 9 lakh
beneficiaries.

International Cooperation Scheme


Technology infusion and/or upgradation of Indian small scale

industries (SSI)/small enterprises (SE), their modernisation


and promotion of their exports are the principal objectives of
assistance under the Scheme of International Cooperation.
The Scheme covers the following activities:
(i) Participation by Indian SSI/SE in exhibitions, fairs and buyer-seller
meets in India, in which there is international participation.
(ii) Deputation of SSI/SE business delegations to other countries for
exploring new areas of technology infusion/upgradation, facilitating joint
ventures, improving market of SSI/SE products, foreign collaborations, etc.
(iii) Holding international conferences and seminars on topics and themes
of interest to the SSI/SE.

Scheme of Surveys, Studies and


Policy
Research
Objectives
To regularly/periodically collect, from primary, secondary

and other sources,relevant and reliable data on various


aspects and features of micro, small and medium
enterprises (MSME) engaged in manufacturing and
services.

To study and analyse, on the basis of empirical data or

otherwise, the constraints and challenges faced by the


MSME as well as the opportunities available to them.

To use the results of these surveys and analytical studies

for policy research and designing appropriate strategies.

Prime Minister's Rozgar


Yojna
(PMRY)
Prime Ministers Rozgar Yojana (PMRY) for providing selfemployment to educated unemployed youth of
economically weaker sections has been in operation
since October 2, 1993.

The scheme aims at assisting the eligible youth in

setting up self-employment ventures in industry, service


& business sectors.

During the year 1993-94, it was proposed to cover

40,000 beneficiaries under PMRY in urban areas only.

Since 1994-95 the scheme has been continuing with

annual plan target of 2.20 lakhs persons.

Scheme of Fund for


Regeneration of Traditional
Government has
recently launched the Scheme
Industries
(SFURTI)

of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries


(SFURTI) under which 100 traditional industry
clusters (of khadi, village industry and coir) would
be taken up for comprehensive development over
5 year.

Traditional industry cluster, in the context of this

Scheme, refers to a geographical concentration of


around 500 beneficiary families of artisans/micro
enterprises, suppliers of raw materials, traders,
service providers, etc.

Objectives
of

Scheme
To develop clusters of traditional industries in various parts of the

country over a period of five years commencing 2005-06.

To make traditional industries more competitive with more

market-driven, productive, profitable and sustained employment.

To strengthen the local governance systems of industry clusters,

with the active participation of the local stakeholders, so that they


are enabled to undertake development initiatives by themselves;

Rural Employment Generation


Programme (REGP)
the KVIC launched Rural Employment Generation

Programme (REGP) with effect from 1st April,


1995 for generation of two million jobs under the
KVI sector in the rural areas of the country.

MAIN OBJECTIVES

1. To generate employment in rural areas.


2. To develop entrepreneurial skill and attitude
among 3. rural unemployed youth.
4. To achieve the goal of rural industrialization.
5. To facilitate participation of financial institutions

higher credit flow to rural industries.

Scheme of Product Development,


Design Intervention and Packaging
(PRODIP)
The Product Development, Design Intervention and

Packaging (PRODIP) scheme was launched in November


2002 with a view to improving the quality of khadi
products and also to diversify into new products.

During 2003-04 to 2005-06, 121 projects, 69 projects

and 72 projects respectively were sanctioned under


PRODIP.

During 2006-07, a target of 202 projects [120 in khadi

and 82 in VI] has been set under PRODIP

Janashree Bima Yojana for Khadi
Artisans
(JBY) Scheme for khadi workers,
A Group Insurance

namely, Khadi Karigar Janashree Bima Yojana was


launched during X Five Year Plan through KVIC on
15th August 2003 By the Government of India with
LIC of India as insurers.
Benefits under the scheme
(i) Rs. 30,000 for natural death and Rs. 75,000 for

death due to accident,


(ii) Rs. 75,000 for permanent disability (loss of two
eyes/limbs of use) due to accident, and
(iii) Rs. 37,500 for partial disability, without charging
any additional cost either to the beneficiary or to the
Government of India.

Scheme of Interest Subsidy


Eligibility Certification (ISEC)
ISEC Scheme is the major source of funding for

the khadi programme.

It was introduced in May 1977 to mobilise

funds from banking institutions to fill the gap in


the actual fund requirement and its availability
from budgetary sources.

Institutions registered with the KVIC/State

Khadi and Village Industries Boards (KVIBs) can


avail of financing under the ISEC scheme.
