Product Allocation in APO-GATP

Product Allocation

What is Product Allocation?

Managing Demand when there is Constrained Supply.
The check against product allocations is used in situations where supply is
smaller than demand
This prevents one customer (or a few customers) from buying the complete
quantity and other requirements not being satisfied.
Confirms Sales Order to the extent that particular customer has an allocation.

Product Allocation

Product Allocation Overview

The product master determines the product allocation procedure.
The product allocation procedure contains a sequence of steps. Each step
represents a product allocation group with the associated product allocation
object and a set of characteristics for planning a time series of product
allocation quantities.
The planning area is where you plan the planned product allocation quantities
for the characteristics of the product allocation group. This data has to be
copied to the product allocation group on an on-going basis.
You can assign several product allocation objects to the product allocation
procedure.
A validity period exists for each object.
The system determines the relevant object on the basis of the check date. The
system allows three types of check dates: Delivery date, Material availability
date, Planned goods issue date.

Product Allocation Object

The product allocation object is the reason for allocating quantities, and can
be Product or a product group, Component, Production line. The product
allocations object is assigned to a product allocations procedure.

Product allocation group

Product allocation group contains a group of Characteristics and Key figures
Characteristics: define product allocation criteria
Key figures: planned and committed quantities
The product allocation group defines the data container used by product
allocation. Within the product allocation group, you define the characteristics
relevant for product allocation. The characteristics of the product allocation
group will be linked later on to characteristics of the planning area. The product
allocation group has two default key figures, order quantity and allocation
quantity, which will be linked against two key figures of the planning area later
on.

Product Allocation Procedure

The product allocation procedure links the product allocation object against
the product allocation group, and defines validation horizons. The product
allocation procedure is maintained in the material master.

Sequence of Product Allocation procedure

When more than one product allocation procedure determines allocation
quantity, they can be combined in a sequence of product allocation
procedures. The sequence defines the order of combination of the product
allocation procedures.
The sequence of product allocation procedures is maintained in the material
master.

Create Characteristic Value Combination (CVC)

Create Characteristic value combination using T-code: /sapapo/MC62
The purpose of this activity is to determine the master data on which you want to
create the allocation/demand plans.

Connection to Planning Area

The purpose of this activity is to define the assignment of the planning
area info objects to characteristics and key features of the production
allocation group. All characteristics and key figures of the product
allocation group must be linked to info objects of the planning area.
The assignment of the planning area is required because the
characteristics of the product allocation group have different
names than those of the InfoObjects in the planning area. You must
assign all characteristics of a product allocation group to an InfoObject.

Copy Product Allocations from Planning Area

Once the allocation quantity is entered in the planning book for the
CVCs , it has to be transferred from the planning area to the product
allocation area.

Create and confirm Sales Order in ECC

1.

Create sales order in ECC.

2.

Perform Availability Check in the sales Order

3.

The Product Allocations tab is displayed in

the APO Availability Check: Delivery
proposal View of the sales order.

4.

The sales order Qty is confirmed as per the

allocation maintained for customer/material.

Transfer incoming order Qty to APO

Once the Sales Order is created in ECC ,transfer the incoming order
Quantity from ECC to APO Planning Area. The Sales Order Qty gets
updated in the Planning Book.
