Preparation
Use FTP to upload
(binary) the U31
compression package to
the pending installation
server , and then
decompress it.
Note Make sure that
the brackets, spaces and
other special characters
don't appear in the U31
software storage path.

Use the <#cd> command to change the current directory to the dir
ectory where the installation files are located, and then execute th
e <#./setup.sh> command to start the installation.
When prompted to
enter the
installation path,
press the Enter
key to decompress
the installation files
to the default path.
When the Select Language window appears, please keep the defa
ult English option.
When the License agreement window appears , please select I ac
cept the license agreement.
Note:
When you
install the U31
client
program,
choose Client
Program
type.

If you configure a dis
k array, please install t
he server program on
the disk array (mount
point), otherwise, you
can keep the default i
nstallation path.
If you configure a disk array please check the database file path to make sure the
database files are installed on the disk array otherwise you can keep the defau
lt paths and sizes.
Note Assume the mount point of the disk array is /oracledata directory and the
database instance is installed in the /oracledata/u01 directory, it's recommended t
o install the database files in the /oracledata/u02 directory.

1. When use the su command to switch users, please note the "-" symbol.
2. Problem Description: Log in to the AIX system as the root user ,and then e
xcute the #sh setup.sh command, but U31 setup user interface can not b
e ejected and prompt with error messages about "DISPLAY variable" .
Solution:
bash-3.00# export DISPLAY=10.94.205.136:0.0
bash-3.00# echo $DISPLAY
10.94.205.136:0.0
Note 10.94.205.136is the IP of your PC where the Xmanager softwar
e is installed.
