under Unix (Aix, Solaris).
Understand the management functions and operating method of the NetNumen
U31 system.
Understand the general troubleshooting process of the NetNumen U31 system.
Please thoroughly study the Element Management System combined with
NetNumen U31 operation guides to fit the actual work.

Condition
Inspection
If you configure a disk array

, please make sure the disk
array has been mounted
successfully.
Make sure the database
listener is already open and
the instance has been
loaded.
Modify the Unix system's
FTP port to reserve the FTP
ports 20 and 21 for the U31
system.
Make sure the U31 license
center has been open.
Installation
Package
Preparation
Use FTP to upload
(binary) the U31
compression package to
the pending installation
server , and then
decompress it.
Note Make sure that
the brackets, spaces and
other special characters
don't appear in the U31
software storage path.

Use the <#cd> command to change the current directory to the dir
ectory where the installation files are located, and then execute th
e <#./setup.sh> command to start the installation.

Configuring the Database

Database type Select the database type of
the U31 server(Oracle or Sql server). In the
AIX system, select Oracle.
Database IP or hostname Enter the IP ad
dress of the server on which the database is i
nstalled.
Database port Keep the default port numb
er 1521 (SQL server: null).
SID(Only for oracle) Enter the System Ide
ntifier (SID) or service name of the Oracle dat
abase(SQL Server Null)
Database superuser name Enter the supe
ruser name of the database (Oracle : system).

user.

If you configure a disk array please check the database file path to make sure the
database files are installed on the disk array otherwise you can keep the defau
lt paths and sizes.
Note Assume the mount point of the disk array is /oracledata directory and the
database instance is installed in the /oracledata/u01 directory, it's recommended t
o install the database files in the /oracledata/u02 directory.

Configuring the Main Process Server Addres

Configuration
Single-server: It is required to set
Main process server address to the IP
address of the U31 server.
Dual-server: It is required to set Main
process server address to the IP
address of the active server and set
Main process standby server address to
the IP address of the standby server.
Timezone and DST Configuration
The case that at least two of U31 server, U31 client and NE are not in the
same time zone can be called multiple time zone.
Select an appropriate item depending on the actual requirements from the
Timezone and DST configuration drop-down list.

Uninstalling the Server Program

Note: It is not recommended to uninstall U31 server program in an
easy manner in the project if you have to do so please be sure
to backup the Whole DB Structure Basic Data File Log
Data Alarm Data and PM Data before uninstalling it.
Uninstalling the Server Program Change the current directory

to uif in the installation path of the server program, and then
execute the command # ./uninstalltool.sh.

1. When use the su command to switch users, please note the "-" symbol.
2. Problem Description: Log in to the AIX system as the root user ,and then e
xcute the #sh setup.sh command, but U31 setup user interface can not b
e ejected and prompt with error messages about "DISPLAY variable" .
Solution:
bash-3.00# export DISPLAY=10.94.205.136:0.0
bash-3.00# echo $DISPLAY
10.94.205.136:0.0
Note 10.94.205.136is the IP of your PC where the Xmanager softwar
e is installed.
