Cementitious PFP

Light weight cementitious mediums.

Usually exfoliated vermiculite within a cement

based binder
Does not undergo any significant change
during a fire.

Or

Concrete robust.

Market is dominated by

Fendolite and Mandolite manufactured by

Cafco; now Promat.

Storage
Bagged material
Kept dry stored off
the ground.
Water based
coatings protect f
rom frost and temp
eratures >45C

Application conditions
Do not apply if air temperature is <
4C and falling.
Surface should be dry and at least
2C above dewpoint temperature.
Shield from strong winds and strong
radiant sunlight.
Maximum surface temperature
45C

Slump/Density
Apparatus

Flat board/plate
Straight edge
Tape measure
Slump tube
(104mm D x 120m
m long)
Weighing scales
Plastic sheet/bag

Slump/Density
Fill tube and level
off the top.

Do not agitate or
compress the mixt
ure.

Measure distance
from top of tube to
top of concave of t
he slump.

Slump/Density
Place slump
material in bag
Weigh sample

Calculate density

Surface finish and water

shedding.

A trowel finish recommended.

Where there is a risk of water pooling

check the material has been sloped
to shed water.

Dried Film Thickness

Measurements to be taken at least
every 3m on each face of steel sectio
n
Coating should not taper off towards
flange edge

Tolerance on thicknesses -0 - +3mm

QC Mesh type and fitting

Check one of the following types are
being used:
Plastic coated hexagonal mesh
Galvanised hexagonal mesh

Check mesh will lie in the middle

third.

Overlapped correctly and no more

than 3 layers thick in any situation
