Pitch of ideas
Genre/sub-genre
The main genre of my magazine will be rock but it will also
include information on other surrounding genres that co-
inside with rock music. These genres include punk,
alternative, hardcore and metal.
I chose to use these genres as they are ones that I know well
and are genres that I take an interest in.
By choosing a wider range of genres I feel that it will appeal to a
greater audience than by pin-pointed one specific genre.
Audience

My target audience will consist of both males and females

with an age range of around 16-26. They have an
interest in hearing about the latest and upcoming new
bands and enjoy reading about the latest gig reviews.
They also have an interest in hearing about upcoming
events and new CD reviews.
Name of magazine
The name for my magazine will be “The Buzz”.
“Buzz” is a word usually associated with bees
and is known to be edgy and dangerous. This
allows me to be edgy with my front cover
image and other images inside the magazine.
By using this name it allows me to create a
logo or a mascot for the magazine which helps
to keep my brand original.
Tagline

My tagline will follow the lines of “the fastest selling music

magazine of our time” written underneath the title. I will
show this in quotations and make it seem like its been
taken from a review of the magazine. This could show
new readers the magazines rising popularity and
success.
USP
My magazine will include reviews of the latest gigs
and CD releases featuring both big and up-
coming bands. There will be interviews with
music’s rising stars and updates on the latest
musical news and studio updates with bands.
Reader Profile

Readers of my magazine will be between the ages of 15 to

25 and be both males and females. The reader has a
genuine interest in keeping up to date on new music and
new upcoming bands. The average reader enjoys going
to gigs and uses music as a social talking point.
Ideas for front cover

My front cover will have the title at the top of the page
bleeding from left to right. Below the tile will sit my tagline
and then the main image, which will bleed to the bottom
of my page. Underneath the my models will be the
headline for my double page article. The rest of the page
will show smaller headlines and images of other articles
inside the magazine.
Ideas for double page
spread
My double page spread will feature a new upcoming local
band and will document the bands beginning to where
they see themselves being in years to come. There will
also be a mini section where band members each
answer odd questions. Images will show individually
images of the band either with or without their
instruments.
