Methods for Data Configuration

Execute Man-Machine Language (MML) commands. This is the

most common method and is applicable for all data

configuration.
Use graphic interface provided by equipment panel for data

configuration. This method is mainly applicable for data

configuration of hardware (frames and boards). Its advantage is
direct viewing and disadvantage is that it is applicable only for
part of data configuration.
Execute data configuration scripts. Huawei compiles data

configuration into a script file and you only need to execute the
script file to complete data configuration.

MPU, It is inserted in front slot 7 or 8 of a frame except the
main control frame.
NET, It is inserted in back slot 7 or 8.
CLK It is inserted in back slot 0 or 1 in main control frame.
FLU, BLU, It is inserted in a back slot of the central
switching
TNU, It is inserted in back slot 6 or 9.
TCLU, It is inserted in back slot 6 or 9 of main control frame
or service frame.

Rules for Configuring Boards

Limitation on board No. :

All OMU, MPU and CMU boards are numbered uniformly. number
for all OMU and MPU boards are generated automatically. The
OMU board number is 0. The MPU board in frame 0 is numbered 1.
The board numbers for other MPUs are the same with the numbers
of the frames where they are located, ranging from 2 to 28. CMU
boards are numbered from 31 to 61.
For a board in the 1+1 backup mode, its board type and number
must be the same with those of the board in the paired slot. For
example, if an FLU board in the 1+1 backup mode is in slot 12, the
board in slot 13 must also be FLU and the numbers. of the two
boards must be the same.

Limitation on board No. :

Paired slots refers to slots 0 and 1, slots 2 and 3, slots 4

and 5, slots 6 and 9, slots 7 and 8, slots 10 and 11, slots 12
and 13 as well as slot 14 and 15.
You do not need to specify the master board in the two
boards working in the 1+1 backup mode. When the system
starts up, the master is determined through the contention
mechanism. Usually the board that is started first is the
master and the other one the slave.

CLOCK SYSTEM

The UMG8900 clock system provides can provide gateway exchange and

local exchange with Stratum-3 or Stratum-2 Clock

The CLK board can extract CLK Source from:

Two-channel 8 kHz line clock

TDM interface boards, PCM
2.048 MHz and 2.048 Mbits/s clock
from BITS, Building Integrated Timing Supply System
GPS/GLONASS:
Global Positioning System/Global Navigation Satellite System .

Manual selection. In manual selection mode,

the CLK board only traces primary reference source
specified.

SSM
SSM code consist of 4 bit, one multi-frame consist of 8 odd frame and 8 even

frame. Each odd frame provide one bit to transfer SSM code and one multi-frame
can transfer 2 SSM code. In fact , the first 4 odd frame repeat the first 4 odd frame
SSM code.

Querying Clock Status

After clock configuration, you can query clock data configuration including

phase-lock status by the command DSP CLK. The value of phase-lock

status can be:
Free running: Indicates that the CLK board outputs free running clock
generated by its crystal.
Fast tracking: Indicates that the CLK board is tracking reference source
clock fast and is an instantaneous status usually when the system just
connects the reference source.
Locked: Indicates that the CLK board has locked primary reference
source and outputs clock signals aligned with reference source.
Holdover: Indicates that the CLK board outputs clock signals based on
the locked status when reference source is missing.
