1.1 Electrical components and measuring Instrument.
Transformer
It is a device that transfers electrical energy from one circuit to another by
magnetic coupling without requiring relative motion between its parts.

Function: Used to couple AC voltages between circuits and to increase or

decrease AC voltages.
Symbol: Nil

SCIENTIFIC NOTATION
It is a method of mathematical expression which uses powers of ten
that makes it much easier to express large and small numbers and do
calculations involving such numbers. The powers of ten can be either
negative value less than 1, or positive for values greater than 1.
POWERS OF TEN
The power of ten is expressed as an exponent of the base 10 in each
case.

a. The exponent indicates the number of places that the decimal

point is moved to the right or left to produce the decimal number.
b. If the power of ten is positive, the decimal number is moved to the
right to get the equivalent decimal number.

METRIX PREFIX
Metric prefixes are prefixes which represent specific quantities.
They are used to short the expressions of quantities.

Example 1:
Express 0.001 ampere in metric prefix form
Answer : 1 mA
