COMPACT SUBSTATIONS FOR

HEATING AND TAP WATER
The compact substations are prefabricated
systems, fully equipped and automated, using
hot fluid produced in a centralized source on
primary side in order to heat the fluid on the
secondary side used for the preparation of the
heating and tap water.

COMPACT SUBSTATIONS

THE OPTIMAL ENERGETIC SOLUTION, as a result of using the

highest performance equipment, included in various schemes of
processes already verified in practice, with automated controlling of
functioning.
FLEXIBILITY, due to the fact that they can be designed to function
both with steam and hot water on the primary circuit.
GUARANTIED QUALITY of execution of equipment in industrial
conditions.
RELIABILITY of the industrial manufactured, assembled and tested
equipment.
COMPACTNESS of a well studied design.
EASY INSTALLATION, with minimum works on the building site,
necessary only to connect the equipment to the customers
installations.
EASY AND SAFETY OPERATION due to the system of control and
automated regulation which includes also the interface with different
monitoring systems, and to equipment easy to maintain and to the
service provided by our team with specialized members.

COMPACT SUBSTATIONS

Even if there is a standard range of SONDEX compact substations with

defined parameters (that could be assembled and delivered to any client
who is interested in such units), our team of specialists can design and
produce such units according to the specific requirements of the client
related to:
dimensioning the district heating systems based on the technical
parameters, the pressure and the phase (liquid phase or steam phase)
of the fluids;
personalization / optimization of the functioning schemas based on the
specific technical requirement of the application;
construction adapted to the configuration of the space room and
access routes;
Design of compact substations either horizontally or vertically and
solutions to build such units inside protection cupboards or containers
(for high capacities);
optional tools available, according to the clients needs;
technical solutions provided for special conditions of the fluids used in
the applications (i.e. geo-thermal water, salt water, carbo-gazous mineral
water etc).

Elements included in a
compact substation:

standard components:
plate heat exchangers, automation for regulating of the
temperature and/or pressure, expansion tanks, circulating
pumps, safety-valves, pipes for connecting (threaded,
welded or with flanges), separating valves, filters,
thermometers, manometers, frames;
optional components:
recirculation of tap water between the heating station and
the consumers, electric panel, storage tank for tap water,
automated water-supplying (filling) systems, energy and flow
meters, electro-magnetic lime dissolver, interfaces for
monitoring and telegestion systems, insulations.

Explanations regarding the

codes used for identifying the
range of standard units:

ACM: preparation of tap-water instantaneously;

ACM-(SI): preparation of tap-water semi-instantaneously (via a
storage tank);
( l): volume, in liters, of the tap-water storage tank;
INC-D: direct heating (no plate heat exchanger);
INC/P: indirect heating (with plate heat exchanger) in parallel
with the tap-water;
INC/S: indirect heating (with plate heat exchanger) in cascade
with tap-water;
INC: heating without preparation of tap-water;
... kW/ ... kW: heat capacity (based on the input parameters), in
kW, on the heating and on the tap-water circuit;
GEO: use of the geo-thermal water as primary fluid;
PHE: SONDEX plate heat exchanger

Dimensioning a Compact
Substation

Each Compact Substation needs a separate design for all components

depending on the requirements of each situation
and the specifications of the planner.
