- Sender has an idea
The form of the idea.
May be influenced by the senders mood, frame of
reference, background, culture, physical make up and
context of the situation.

- Sender encodes the idea in a message.
Converting the idea into words or gestures to convey
meaning.
Major problem in verbal communication - words have
different meanings for different people.
Thats why use familiar words with concrete meanings.

The medium which a message is transmitted.

May be in the form of report, announcement, picture,
