Workforce Diversity:
Similarities and differences among employees in terms of
age, cultural background,
physical abilities and disabilities, race, religion and sex
Diversity simply means that the population in the workplace is not
homogeneous.
Diversity is important in today's business environment for several
reasons including :
1) the necessity of compliance with anti-discrimination laws
2) an increasingly multicultural world
3) and a recognition that different perspectives are important.
Diversity not only involves how people perceive themselves, but
how they perceive others.

Significance:
As a Legal Requirement:
Companies can be fined if they do not comply with equal employment
opportunity mandates since it is a law.
As a Resource Imperative:
The long-term success of any business calls for a diverse body of talent
that can bring fresh ideas, perspectives and views to their work.
As a Social Responsibility:
Beneficiaries of diversity practices are from groups of people that are
disadvantaged in our communities.
As a Capacity-building Strategy:
Capacity can be measured by the range of talent, experience,
knowledge, insight, and imagination available in their workforces.
Increasingly international business landscape:
Working with people of different cultures, races or backgrounds can
help provide this insight. Into various markets.
