& thickness of epidermis (hyperplasia)
Basal cell carcinoma - excessive proliferation in
stratum basale caused by excessive UV
exposure; non-malignant
Squamous cell carcinoma - arises from other
keratinocytes in epidermis; may metastasize
Malignant melanoma - excessive proliferation of
melanocytes; metastasis if invades dermis
