Belief in Prophets and messengers

Need of mankind for Prophets and

messengers

To know about their purpose of creation and how to spend

their life
Need of Soul
Purpose of sending Prophets:
To call towards oneness of Allah S.W.T
To convey commands of Allah S.W.T
To give glad tidings
To warn people of punishment if they go against Allahs
prohibitions
To establish proof against us.

And we never punish until We have not sent a messenger

(to give warning). [17:15]

The world without prophets??

Our belief in Prophets and Messengers

Firm belief that Allah sent to every nation a Messenger from

amongst them, to call them to worship Allah alone and to
disbelieve in everything that is worshipped instead of Him,
They (the Messengers) were all truthful, wise, pious and
honest,
They conveyed everything with which Allah sent them
Are the Messengers charged with anything but to convey
clearly the Message? (16:35)
Their message was the same, from the first to the last of
them, based on the principle of Tawheed, i.e., that all kinds
of worship should be devoted to Allah alone, and that
everything that is worshipped instead of Allah is to be
rejected. The evidence for that is the verses:
And We did not send any Messenger before you (O
Muhammad) but We revealed to him (saying): Laa ilaaha illa
Ana (none has the right to be worshipped but I (Allah)), so
worship Me (Alone and none else). (21:25)

Belief in those Messengers whose names we

know and whose names we do not know

And, indeed We have sent Messengers before you

(O Muhammad), of some of them We have related
to you their story. And of some We have not related
to you their story. (40:78)

belief that the Final Messenger was our Prophet

Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam), and
there is no Prophet after him, as Allah says:

Muhammad is not the father of any of your men,

but he is the Messenger of Allah and the last (end)
of the Prophets. And Allah is Ever All-Aware of
everything. (33:40)

Message

Characteristic features of
Prophets.
All prophets were appointed by Allah Subhanahu taala
All prophets were infallible and perfect human beings
It is agreed upon that the Prophets are infallible in what they
inform about Allah, and in their conveying the Message
There is a disagreement concerning the Prophets being
infallible from committing sins.
1)Prophets are absolutely infallible from committing major and
minor sins
2) the Prophets are prone to committing minor sins however, they
do not persist in their sins
No angel was sent as Nabi or Rasul.
{And

nothing prevented men from believing when the guidance

came to them, except that they said: Has Allaah sent a man as (His)
Messenger?} [Quran 17:94]
All prophets were males.
{And

We sent not before you (O Muhammad) but men to whom We

revealed...}
[Quran 21:7]

All prophets died

Muhammad is no more than a messenger, and

indeed (many) messengers have passed away

before him[3:144]
A Prophet is only buried where he dies
No Prophet was ever buried except where he

died. Musnad Ahmed

Belief in Muhammad s.a.w

His prophethood is universal
"Say (O Muhammad ), "O mankind! Verily, I am sent to you

all as the Messenger of Allah. [Soorah al-A'raaf (7): 158]

Finality of Prophethood
Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, buthe is
the Messenger of Allah and the Last of the
prophets;and Allah is cognizant of all things.(33:40)
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle said, "My similitude in comparison with the
other prophets before me, is that of a man who has built a
house nicely and beautifully, except for a place
of"ONE"brick in a corner. The people go about it and
wonder at its beauty, but say: 'Would that this brick be put
in its place!'So I am that brick, and I am the last of the
Prophets.
