KNOW
ELindicates the
following:
Earth is being used as neutral.
Neutral is touching the earth.
Phase / Neutral wire is touching
with
phase / neutral wire of the
neighbour
Neutral wire is interconnected
with the
neighbors13 neutral wire.

KNOW
ABOUT
EL
Wrong wiring, among others
things can result in:
Safety hazards (wires are still
live, even when the main switch is
off).
Cause fire (if by mistake, phase
and
neutral wires get
interchanged)
Wrong Current flow (neighbours
current can flow through your
meter)
14

KNOW ABOUT EL
If EL is glowing, get your internal wiring
checked for any leakages and other
problems and also carefully look at the
EL LED in the Electronic Meters. EL LED,
in Electronic Meters, however small, is of
great
importance and consumers are advised
not to
ignore its usefulness.
