Coach Boone is a great example of a
charismatic leader.
Boone is able to create good relationships
between players, regardless of race.
His vision for the team involves getting the
players concerned in what the team needs to
become.
Coach Boone realizes that in order to succeed,
everyone on the team has to believe in and
commit to a common purpose.

Make inspirational speeches

Their ability to inspire and motivate
followers to perform at high levels,
and to be committed to the
organization or the cause. Great
speakers control their pitch and allow
their passion to show in order to
capture the attention of their
audience.
3

How do we capture their attention?

Build own image

Stand at the door to greet your students as
they come into the classroom.
You should greet your students to convey
the message that you are glad to see them.
They will show great confidence in their
followers.
They are very persuasive and make very
effective use of body language as well as
verbal language.

Rolemodel
No matter how dry the subject is for
the day, keep your demeanor
upbeat. Stick a smile on your face
and let it hang there.
Be careful of your tone. The dryer
your tone is, the more your students
will yawn. Keep your own excitement
at the level where you want your
students' excitement to be.

Rolemodel
Smile at your students. No one likes
a grouch.
A teacher with a pleasant demeanor
has half of the charisma battle won.
What if you dont feel like smiling?
Do it anyway. You owe it to your
students.
Remember that your difficult
students are the very ones who most
need your smiling support.

Promote moral vision and

mission
Early in the term, establish the procedures
and routines your students should follow
and then stick to them as much as
reasonably possible.
Students who know what they are
supposed to do and how they are supposed
to do it are much more comfortable than
those who are uncertain about what you
expect.
Convince them.

Listening to empower
Many charismatic leaders actively listen to
audience members, team members, or employees
in order to better understand their challenges and
to make the member feel important and
empowered.
Charismatic leaders are motivated to understand
issues so they can best address them, and thus
need to practice listening with the goal of
understanding instead of reacting.
Charismatic teachers talk less than their students
do. Ask questions that will encourage students to
share their ideas with you.
