What is Personality?
•The word personality comes from the Latin route
persona, meaning ‘mask'. According to this route
personality is the impression we make on others; The
mask we present to the world. Later in this discussion we
will allude to the word’s origins as we discuss peoples
behavior's as manifestation of their personalities

•Definition : Personality is the dynamic organization


within the individual of those psychophysical
systems that determine his unique adjustments to his
environment
Types of Personality
TYPE A’s
1.Are always moving, walking and eating rapidly
2. Feel impatient with the rate at which most events take places
3. Strive to think or do two or more things at once
4. Cannot cope with leisure
5.Are obsessed with numbers, measuring their success in terms of how
many or how much of anything they require
Type B’s
1.Never suffer from a sense of time urgency with its accompanying
impatience
2.Feel no need to display or discuss either achievements or
accomplishments unless such exposure is demanded by the situation
3. Play for fun and relaxation ,rather than to exhibit their superiority
at any cost.
4.Can relax without guilt

Personality Theory
Freud Theory: According to freud the
human mind is composed of three
structures.
1. Id- It is raw, animalistic, unorganized
instinct that abides no law.
2. Ego- It is based on practical, logical
and rational thinking.
3. Super Ego- It is specially based on
moralistic and spiritual understanding.
Holland’s typology of personality

•Realistic - practical, physical, hands-on, tool-oriented


•Investigative - analytical, intellectual, scientific, explorative
•Artistic - creative, original, independent, chaotic
•Social - cooperative, supporting, helping, healing/nurturing
•Enterprising - competitive environments, leadership, persuading
•Conventional - detail-oriented, organizing, clerical
Introversion & Extroversion
There are most common description of
personality traits. These terms are
normally associated with an individuals
sociability and inter personal
orientation. It is generally established
that introvert and extrovert have
significantly different career
orientation and required different
organizational environment to
maximize performance.
Big five models
A personality assessment model that taps five basic
dimensions.
  EXTRAVERSION: A personality dimension describing
someone who is sociable, gregarious, and assertive
  AGREEABLENESS: A personality dimension that
describes someone who is natured, cooperative, and
trusting .
  CONSCIENTIOUSNESS: a personality dimension that
describes someone who is responsible, dependable,
persistent, and organized
  EMOTIONAL STABILITY: A personality dimension that
describes that characterizes someone as calm, self-
confident, secure (positive) versus nervous, depressed,
and insecure(negative).
 OPENESS TO EXPERIENCE:A personality dimension that
characterizes someone in terms of imagination,
sensitivity, and curiosity.
