Employed persons are persons who are:
Aged 16 or older,
Work for an employer or are self-employed,
Not volunteers, and
Not engaged in self-service such as homemaking, etc.
Unemployed persons are persons who:
Are aged 16 year or older,
Are not engaged in any employment (self or otherwise),
Were available for job in last four weeks, and
Have made specific efforts to find a job at any time during last four
weeks.

MANILA, Philippines - The country's unemployment rate
declined to6.4 percentin April from7 percentof the same
month in 2014, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said
Tuesday. June 9, 2015
ILOILO City, Philippines Unemployment rate in Western
Visayas went down to 6.0 percent in January 2015 from 6.6 percent
a year ago, results of the Philippine Statistics Authoritys (PSA)
Labor Force Survey showed.
The labor force participation rate in January 2015 was estimated at
62.8 percent, down from 63.4 percent in the same month last year.
(The labor force consists of the employed and the unemployed.)

Philippines Jobless Rate Falls in July
Philippines unemployment rate was at 6.5 percent in July of 2015, down from
6.7 percent a year earlier but up from 6.4 percent reported in April 2015. The
figure excludes Leyte Region.
There were 2,724 thousand unemployed persons. Among the unemployed
persons, 62.1 percent were males. The age group 15 to 24 years comprised
50.4 percent, while the age group 25 to 34, 29.5 percent. By educational
attainment, 22.2 percent of the unemployed were college graduates, 13.5
percent were college undergraduates, and 33.2 percent were high school
graduates.
Meanwhile, the number of underemployed was 8,219 in July. More than 50
percent worked for less than 40 hours a week and 38.3 percent worked in the
agriculture sector, while 44.2 percent were in the services sector. Those in the
industry sector accounted for 17.6 percent.
In July of 2015, there were 39,174 thousand employed persons. 55.5 percent
worked in the services sector, 28.0 percent in agriculture and the remaining
16.5 percent in industry.
