In what ways does your media product use ,

When it came to our first Ancillary task, producing the poster, once
again each member of the group began researching into real media
productions of Soap Opera posters in order to develop our ideas and
form a media piece that would directly represent the Soap Opera
genre, containing all the correct signifiers. However, during our
research we each found that there were not a large amount of poster
produced to promote Soap Operas, in fact we would struggle to end up
with variation in our research. Therefore, to solve this problem we
focused on a number of posters that were promoting normal serial TV
Shows, which are extremely similar and greater produced. Using the
knowledge we had gained by researching Soap Opera promos we were
able to apply slightly modified Soap conventions to the conventions
of a good promotional poster and create a successful advertisement
for our Soap.
The two posters that I researched into were from two extremely
different American TV Shows. The first one that I looked at was from

Our second ancillary task and final objective was to create a

we each once again researched individually although this time we all
looked at three similar media products each, rather than just the
two. The three magazines that I looked at were ‘TV Choice’, ‘All About
Soap’ and ‘TV Easy.’
From my research I discovered that all of these Soap magazines are
extremely similar and tend to aim more on standing out to a customer
rather than having solid amount of legitimate content, which in turn
means that the front covers of these types of magazines always seem
cluttered and extremely exaggerated. This is a ploy by production
companies as they work on a policy of, the longer a customer views
the magazine the more likely they are to buy it. Therefore when it
came to creating our groups Magazine Cover for our poster it was
very clear that the front page had to be busy, filled up with content
concerning Soaps and Celebrities, with bold and bright text. We
concluded as a group that there are certain favoured colours when it
comes to producing a magazine cover, and to successfully meet the
conventions we would have to adopt similar or the same colours. For
example, red and yellow is used a lot as there bright and bold; they
stand out to customers and highlights important content on the page.

we faced in danger of setting us back on our schedule, the

Audience Feedback

I have conducted an online survey to gain some vital audience feedback on the completed trailer, poster and magazine cover in order to find

providing us with knowledge that we can take with us for future projects. I asked 10 people to fill out the survey all from the age of 16 to
